Starship Troopers is on my list of "No Socially Redeeming Value" movies. Maybe the remake will be better?

That's because the movie focuses on killing bugs and Dina Meyer's fantastic tatas rather than the issue put forth by R.A.H. of having to earn the privilege of voting through service rather than having it given as a carte-blanche right.

It was one of Heinlein's more thought-provoking critiques of our system at a time when he was more focused on whargarbling about how commies were taking over America from within.

I enjoyed the original.  A lack of redeeming social value does not necessarily make a movie bad.

There are worse things for a movie to focus on.

I thought Starship Troopers was a pretty great satire. I never read the book, but really enjoyed the movie.

I enjoyed the original.
A piece of me just died inside hearing someone say that. Gawd, it was awful.

From what I know, the movie had the complete opposite message of the book. The movie was making fun of everything that happened in the plot while the book was advocating for it.

I liked the original movie too.

It wasn't a good representation of the book, but it was a good action flick.

I always thought Terra Nova : Strike Force Centauri was a better version of the book, just with no bugs :(
