Hey guys,
I have an offer for a job in Phoenix and was wondering if any of y'all have any experience with the city or the state of Arizona? I remember at least one forumer lived there, but what can expect moving 2,000 miles from Ohio?

Mitchell my stepson lives in Phoenix area (Chandler). Housing little expensive, good paying jobs available, good weather if you like 'hot' in summer. The Phoenix road network is a maze at times, be prepared for 'snowbirds' in winter making it even worse.

Never been to Phoenix, but I moved from Michigan to Utah last year. I love it out here. If you don't like it after a few months, you can always look for another job back in the Midwest.

Hello!
Phoenix is a great place to work and live. Not sure what OS is saying, the roadnetwork is a grid with plenty of freeways and express ways. No toll roads. One major tip, wait as long as you can to register your vehicle. It's based on the value of your vehicle. So if it's a late model vehicle, you'll get raped. Stay away from the west valley unless your work is near there and want a closer commute. North Phoenix (paradise valley), Ahwatukee (Phoenix listing) are all nice areas. If your into the hipster scene, downtown Phoenix is the place. Tempe is a college town, some parts are run down. Mesa is hit or miss. Gilbert and Chandler is mostly good spots. If you like guns, you'll be in heaven. If you like winter sports, snow is 2 hours away. World class mountain biking, and more I can't think of. The paintball scene is pretty weak, but there are some nice fields in northern Phoenix. Lemme know if you have any questions. P.S. I'll take the summer here, over anywhere else with humidity. The monsoon season gets a little humid, but the amazing electrical storms makes up for it. |

Back in the day running a big truck you avoided the 'freeways' like the plague during rush hour. Sitting at the 'J' and waiting for traffic to clear. When we took step-son down with car and U-Haul nothing really changed. Would I live there no, Flagstaff different story.

Back in the day there was only I-10 and I-17running through the valley. Now there is loop 101,202,303, AZ-51, and US-60. Sure there is more traffic than Nebraska, but not nearly as bad as most metropolitan areas. You said the roads were a maze here, no that would be Boston. The roads are a grid, so just point in the direction you want to go and that road will keep that heading until it ends. Very simple. Flagstaff is nice, but terribly over priced and too liberal for my taste. I do plan on moving up north, near the New Mexico border. Beautiful area but no where near the pricing as Flag, Prescott, Payson, Sedona etc etc.
