Ok, I did much research before I purchased my gear. I'm Retired
Army and a former custom gunsmith and competitive shooter. I
chose the A5 due to it's looks, it's reliability and it's feed
system. I knew once I installed the responce it would work great
with the cyclone feed. I chose the flatline for the additional
range as I plan to only play field ball with this marker.
Testing and setup. I have 5 acres of land to train on. I
have an old tailgate off a full sized Ford pickup truck. I leaned
the tailgate up against a post long ways to act as a target. I
got out my trusty 250 foot tape measure and marked off every 50 feet
out to 250 feet from the tailgate. I then went out and bought
several 100 ball samples of several brands of paint from different
local sources.
On a muggy, calm evening with the temp. around 90 deg. here in South
Carolina two weeks ago I did my first testing. Shooting off of a
table with the barrel supported, I adjusted the velocity until the
balls could just be seen to drop a slight amount and then climb back up
to a straight line of flight due to the back spin. Any lower and
they would fall short, higher and they were eratic. I slow fired
20 shot strings for group. At 50 feet its a splat the size of a
pie plate with any paint. 100 feet it opens up a small bit.
150 feet the cheap mart paint starts to get wild. There are more
"flyers" but its still usable. 200 feet and only the PMI paint is
hitting the target consistantly. At 250 feet, I still get more
hits than misses with the PMI. After I tuned up the responce, I
can now get bursts to do the same. This is a very cool set up.
I have already been able to easily mark the other guys with multiple
hits at 150 - 175 feet while they were dropping balls at my feet trying
to adjust their loft. I still have more testing to do and will
post results here.
