Topic: Bead Blasted or not?Posted: 02 July 2004 at 10:41am |

I'm terrible at making decisions. I have an A-5 and I'm getting a 14'' Lapco Bigshot. But I can't decide between bead blasted or plain aluminum. Which do you think?

does it really matter? lol. who cares what ya get. ones shiny, ones dull. the dull one is more expensive. but i like shiny better. and i like cheap too. so it was a win-win decision for me. |

Bead blasted is just that, they shoot pellets at the metal surface which removes the sheen and hardens the surface.
The regular aluminum one is just anodized, so the surface is softer but shinier. Because the bead blasted requires an extra processing step it will cost more. So make your decision on this, do you want your barrel to be shiny and less expensive? Or do you want a duller harder surface finish that costs more? |

I just ordered my Bigshot from County Paintball. I decided to go with Bead blasted. This one time I was playing in a heavily wooded area. My team had to defend the fort. I was the only Roamer on my team. So I left the fort and to hide in the heavy brush beside the fort. I waited and didn't move a muscle. Then my eyes pickd up motion futrher is in the brush. I instantly knew it was the other team, since I was the only person aloud on my team to leave the base. He was crawling closer and closer. Unfortunetly I knew the brush was to thick to fire at him. There was to much foliage in the way. He was advancing in a slow but presistant maner. He was about ten feet away and I swear he could see me. I was looking directly into his eyes. I could see the confience he had. He advanced a few more feet. If he looked a little to the left he would have seen me through a missing patch of ferns that I trampled down to get to my spot. He crawled past it. I could hear him think. I was so close... I readied my self... "SURENDER!!!" I yelled. His response was to curl into the fetal position and yell "Okay!" Anyways the point is... If you play woodsball alot and every once in a while you play a stealth game then paying those few extra dollars for bead blasted will hopefully bring you memories like that. There was a point when he would have noticed a shiny barrel. Something a person must do when he/she hides is to not move (eyes pick up motion even in the densest cover) and to not stick out i.e. a shiny barrel. So I am for bead blasted all the way. |
