Well Monday I come home and what do I see sitting in the yard? A new Truck...Parents bought it. Its a 1997 Nissan. Real nice I think (this one has a Radio...). Only has 93k miles on it whick is good compared to 177k. Its hard going from a Big 350 to a 4 banger. Heres a pic from the dealership.

Specs:

  • 2.4L 4 Cylinder
  • 4x4
  • 5 Speed
  • Sony Radio w/ Kenwood Speakers
  • All-Terrain Tires
  • A/C and Heat
  • Diamond Plate ToolBox

Yea they do accually...pretty much all the overseas pickups are great like Toyota, Nissan, Datsun, etc.... They will run forever. Ive talked to people that have put 300k+ miles on them. So I dont know what your talking about.

yeah, my dad had a nissan pickup he beat the crap out of for 300,000 miles, towed way more than it was rated for, had it slip out of gear at the top of a rather large hill... sold it still running fine.

what bugs  me is the 4 cylinder, that is what i call a wimp engine but hey if it works y not. my truck is a 1987 Ford F-150 Lariat, getting dual exhaust (Dynaflow) , supercharger kit ($3000) and im deciding whether or not to lift it, or lower it for the speedy look. but its gotta 351 V8 its a 6.0 L runs like a beast. i have 1 more year before i get to drive it though, im only 14 (it was a gift from my brother in- law) the money is coming from some work i do after school. im notta ford person but i must admit theyre beasts

Datsun IS Nissan.

My dad has a 77 toyota hilux with over half a million miles on the truck about 320k of those are the second engine, the previous owner destroyed the first engine by overheating it.

Its getting ready to die though, the head is all ate up by electrolysis, the block and head are warped so it blows a head gasket about every 6 months if he drives it hard, it smokes a little but doesn't burn a whole lot of oil. Its pretty reliable but he needs to start working on it soon. The reason he bought it really was because his friend who had Hilux threw a rod through the block and they were able to drive it back home which was 100 miles away stopping every 10 or 20 miles to dump more oil into it.

Needless to say its one of the many reasons why I have faith in Toyota's that I otherwise wouldn't have.

Im not a truck person at all, I will most likely never own a truck, I like performance, thus I like cars.

Its still a fun truck to drive and it has a rare factory 4WD conversion with a dana 44 up front, with a newer model 5 speed in it. Its pretty fun to drive.

i didnt mean that i knew for fact nissan trucks were crappy.

I had just never heard anyone praising a overseas truck such as nissan ...as opposed to ford/chevy/dodge trucks. my bad...

they are ok trucks but they dont really run any longer than american made trucks do...they do get better gas mileage tho.  i prefer dodge and ford tho.  chevys are nice too i just like dodge and ford more.
