Well cheaper paintballs will chop alot more than higher quality
paint, and higher quality paint is harder to wipe off.

Try Great American Paintballs, a case runs around $40. They are, or were, the official paintball of Dynasty. I chop a ball maybe once every other case, sometimes I go for a month or two without breaking one. They work well in my flatline, and even better with my other guns.

marbs are good for really playing and a box of 35$ balls like diablo splash would be good for practice.

It usually has to do with the quality control of the paintball manufacurer.  The shell, gel paint, and ball size are graded for quality and consistancy.  For priemium brands, less paint will make the grade, requiring more paint to be produced.  Hence the larger expense passed on to the consummer.  In paintball you usually get what you pay for with paintballs.  The more expensive paints will generally perform better.
