Trying to explain 1337 to techno phobes is just funny. Also, 1337 used to be a shortcut for typing. Easier and quicker to say a lot of stuff in 1337. Plus, its different. Edited by whoknowswho |

1337 was used by hackers on USENET during the '80s to get around text
filters (hence the use of h4x and such). As with anything
exclusive to a group of people, some outsider eventually uses to try to
fit in or look cool. In this case it was the 12 year-olds playing
online games.

1337 was originally a language hackers used that nobody else caught for a while. once it hit the public, especially the gaming community it became the stupidest bandwagon on the internet luring the most retarded people and forming something to dumb to understand. What is that you ask? That's 75% of the old Counterstrike community. Some people still have 1337 names and stuff... I guess it's cool but when I see people mutating it to add to their already pre-historic grammar skills it just eats me up in side. "omg lolz 111 i r t3h l3373$t ev4r!"
