SAN DIEGO Mar 31, 2005 — This mugger was left holding a bag he didn't really want.

Police said they were searching for a gunman who ran up to a woman while she was walking her dog Monday night and grabbed the bag she was holding. It contained poop.

When the gunman discovered what was in it, he threw it down in disgust, pointed his gun at the 32-year-old woman and demanded money, San Diego police detective Gary Hassen said.

He then aimed his .22-caliber semiautomatic at the dog, named Misty, and pulled the trigger twice but the gun didn't fire, Hassen said. The robber, who was believed to be in his 20s, ran to a waiting small, silver car and fled, police said.

I hope you are joking. If you shoot a guy like me with a 22. It will just make me mad. A 22 is a very small round, but i love em, you can shoot all day it wont make a fire in your wallet and burn all the money away.

22 is way too big.  I never use more than a 13 for muggings.

What type of sick person attempts to shoot a domestic animal?  I mean, if it was going to kill me and all I would save myself, but the dog was on a leash.

They are good for assassination in that way. Fire one or two rounds into the head. They have enough force to make it through the skull once and just bounce around shredding the brain to pieces.

When I was still in elementary school a kid in my neighborhood had a high school party while his parents were away. He was shot in the temple with a .22. The bullet bounced around in his skull shredded his brain and killed him.

Imagine being on vaction and getting a call tell you your son was killed because he did let some high schooler crash the party.

I hate how people think that .22s aren't dangerous. Take a gun of .22 caliber and fire it through 5 2x4's all put together and watch how cleanly it can come out.

But yeah, I would prefer a .17 for a mugging.
