Hi, i am basicly a newb to paintballing but i already feel the need to upgrade my 98 custom, I am thinking that a new barrel will be dandy probably a J&J Ceramic because i am on a very tight budget. What are some other good upgrades i should get that are cheap.

Length of barrel is your preference. Don't go over 16" though. After a barrel you might want to upgrade your air with an expansion chamber (I assume you use co2), and a firepower upgrade if you want it, like a Response Trigger.

yeah thats along the lines of what im thinking, ill probly grab a duoble trigga kit with the response. I dont know much about the barrels either, only that dont go over 16" so i dont know what will be better, the 12 or 14.

Don't bother getting a double trigger with your response.  I bought a double trigger for my 98, then later added the R/t.  The trigger is now pretty much just for looks.  You only need one finger for the R/T anyway, so there isn't much point to buying the double.

For the barrel I'd too go for the J&J. As for the size it's all preferance between 12" and 14". They will shoot the same so it's all up too you. Then I'd get a r/t and an electric hopper.

alright thx guys, im going to order my ceramic barrel pretty quick here, im going to get the 14" because its the same price and the intimidation value....Then i might get some new grips cause i got my gun used, so there a bit grubby and i want softer ones. HAAANNY WAY once i save up a bit ill get my RT and a cheap electric hopper, anysuggestions for that, also later on ill probably get one of them 32* expansion chamber, the one thats like all chrome and its black at the tip, ya so thx for the help. Any suggestions like i said for the hopper would be shiny.

Dont go cheap on the electronic hopper. The last thing you want is $60 soup.

I'd suggest a Bigshot over the Ceramic. The usefulness of the Ceramics "self clean ability" is way overrated. You're still going to need to run a squeegie through it for it to shoot decent so whats the point of having it?

The bigshot is more accurate than the ceramic and I like the way Lapco puts the gun name on your barrel for you (TIppmann A-5, Tippmann 98C). Many people dont like the bigshot because its loud. What they dont understand is that no matter what barrel your shooting from(exeptions are LEGAL silencers registered by the BATF), the person on the other end is going to hear the shots. So you might as well make it loud and scare them while your at it.

Id get an X-chamber before the RT. If you went the other way around, you would soon get annoyed at the white puffs and drops in efficiency.

Plus you will better appriciate the ability to spray and pray.

So my recomendation is:

Barrel, Hopper, Chamber, RT. Then maybe a nice paintjob.

No. No barrel makes the paintballs go farther, With exeption of the Tippmann Flatline barrel. And the Warsensor Hop-up barrel.

However the Warsensor one only fits the warsensor line of products, so you stuck with the flatline.

ya well i have decided to go with a 12" Lapco Big Shot, an X-Chamber, some new grips, then the RT, and the VL Quantom Hopper hopper, it feeds like 8-9 bps and its pretty cheap, or i might get a 12 volt revvy, also how fast can the RT shoot so i know what sorta hopper to get.

This is probably just going to confuse you more, but...

I have an RT, and so far have not needed a new hopper. I
also havn't played with the RT much at all yet.

Get a remote. They give better expansion than an
xchamber. If you don't like the unbalanced feel, get a
palmers stab. MUCH more expensive than either the
xchamber or remote, but works SO much bette
