Well, if you get one of the newer shockers with deep threading on the feedneck, it'll probably perform pretty similarly to a 'timmy. If I was buying a gun, I'd buy a 2003 or 2004 Viking, or, out of your choices, a Dragon 'timmy, which you can get for about $700+shipping new on eBay.

You always push viking.

I would go with the timmy. As long as its a 2k4 timmy, it will own the shocker in all fields expect weight.

I love Vikings, although I do understand they don't really fit in with today's enviroment of beautiful guns(stock, anyway).

overrated in my opinion... go with either a timmy or like an angel speed or something like that

I suggest an Angel, they are very reliable, accurate, and efficient.

Id go with a shocker over a timmy for $800. For 800 most all you could get is like a 2k4 alias. Or you could get an older timmy like a 2k2, dragon, gz, ect... and just buy 05 parts. 05/05d dragons = sex

OK, just a heads up man, but the only difference you're paying for with newer 'timmys is weight and looks. They all shoot just about the same, and Dragons have significantly higher tolerances than the new Aliases, which means they actually shoot better, and go for about $700 new.

That said, I've been thinking about this, and a Shocker really isn't a bad gun. You can get a new 2005 Shocker with Vision for $650+shipping on eBay, add a clamping feedneck, new regulator(CP or Sidewinder, or 2-Liter if you can afford it), and a uni-mount, and you've got a great gun for about $775. Add $25 if you want a 2004 Alias with some upgrades.

I'd suggest shooting both, and figuring out which feel you like more.

Shockers are still made with an inefficient bolt from what I hear. The only
Shocker that can get more than 1000 shots from a 68/4500 is the new Toxic
Shocker. Of course, you can get aftermarket bolts that advertize improving
efficiency up to 1400 shots off a 68/45.

Ha. You're funny man...

HE bolt kits for the shocker run about $80-$90, and most give you between 1700-2000 shots off a 68/4500.

Stock kits give you 1100-1300. That ain't too bad.
