http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/06/30/spain.**edited**. vote.ap /index.html Replace the filtered word with g.ay without the period to see the great news found with the link. MADRID, Spain (AP) -- Parliament legalized same gender marriage Thursday, defying conservatives and clergy who opposed making traditionally Roman Catholic Spain the third country in the world to officially recognize same-sex unions. Same gender rights activists cheered lawmakers and blew them kisses. Props to Spain! Blessings will be plentiful and massive for this 3rd nation to take a step in the right direction for mankind and human rights. The Netherlands and Belgium are the only other two countries that recognize same-gender marriages nationwide. Up next to legalize marrige is Canada in July. Looks likes the American homophobes need to get out of the 20th century and move forward with the future.

The Senate, where conservatives hold the largest number of seats, rejected the bill last week
Several members of the conservative opposition Popular Party, which vehemently opposed the bill, shouted: "This is a disgrace." "I think the prime minister has committed a grave act of irresponsibility," On Wednesday, a Catholic lay group called the Spanish Family Forum presented lawmakers with a petition bearing 600,000 signatures as a last-minute protest. Late last year, a spokesman for the Spanish Bishops Conference, Antonio Martinez Camino, said that allowing homosexual marriage was like "imposing a virus on society -- something false that will have negative consequences for social life." Whatever.. Seems like polititions trying to get votes, not the masses making a disision. Edited by DBibeau855 |

yeah, i gotta talk about the word homophobe, i am against the homos, but lets say someone is Arachnophobic, they run from spyders they dont commit crimes against the spyder, thats the problem, they cannot kill the spyder, i am not afraid of being raped by a homo, most homos are the wimpiest people alive, those who are anti-homo should not be called homophobes, but come up with something else Edited by AngelSlayer |

Whose votes are the goverment officals trying to get? The masses votes. Therefore voting to legalize **edited** marriage makes the masses happy and gets them the votes. Everybody wins!! |

What's wrong with same sex unions? Why does it have to be marriage? In my opinon that's the best compromise on both sides. Conservatives keep their view on marriage, same sex couples get their benefits. But this isn't about benefits of marriage on either side-it's a principle debate. Same sex couples want to be "married", conservatives want to keep the Biblical definition. Give me a break.

I looked into that myself. Websters defines a 'phobia' as a fear of or a strong dislike for. So 'homophobia' IS in fact the correct term to use for someone who is against the homosexual lifestyle.

Urban dictionary is crap. They created the definition of the word to fit the pop-culture use of it. That doesn't make it correct, it IS right, but urbandictionary isn't a reliable source as far as I'm concerned. Edited by Reb Cpl |

Urban Dictionary is reliable in that it has definations as it relates to the vernacular of the layman and below and not just vocabulary used mostly by the heavlily educated with century old definitions that are centuries old. |
