Ok here's a cheap way to make a ghillie suit that i'm working on. Go to wal-mart and buy a longsleeve camo shirt one size too big ( its like 7 bucks) that's all you need if you will be using this suit in the prone position like me. Otherwise buy some pants to match it but they need to fit in the waist, but anywehere else thas too big is a plus if you get lucky enough. then buy 1 yard for the shirt and 1 yard for the pants of thin camo colored mesh like stuff ( 4 bucks a yard) then cut the material into 6''x1'' strips and sew them on vertically to the shirt and/or pants you just bought even the sleeves and back and neck and everything. (upside down if u want them to fold over for more textrue or squish them up or do w/e.) Then if you have any leftover mesh camo you make a maskveil by basically sewing 2 pieces of the mesh together about the size(depending on your head) and shape of an oven mit without a thumb together at the edges. then flip it inside out  and attach any scraps onto the veil like u did the clothes. For the veil you might have to remove your visor or cut a slit in the mesh for it to go thru. If the strips get in your way cut them off to shorten them or skruntch them (which is what i recommend) or if you didn't buy thin mesh just cut eye holes and now you have a high-quality ghillie suit for about 30 bucks!

You think you're the first one to think of this?

I wouldn't pay twelve cents for a Ghillie suit, let alone 30 for a really crappy one.

You are right. My mentality is Speedball, 24/7 so I don't think stuff like this through. Sorry Jester. That is just a flaw in my personality.

Rethinking, this is a pretty good idea for those that want a Ghillie but can't afford a premade one. Good work.

Directions for making your Ghillie Suit

I have found great instructions on making your own Ghillie Suit at home at Ghillie Suits.

If you follow it step-by-step you will have a top-of-the-line Ghillie Suit for around $100. It will take around 20 hours of work(according to the site, i have found mine has taken more, although i did not use the instructions from this site the first time).

I have also found great instructions at:http://www.geocities.com/stalker217/ghillie/. I have used these instructions and found them to be very useful and detailed.

If this is not worthy of being in here mods plz delete it. I in no way want to fill this thread with stuff nobody cares about.

Way to read the Stickies.

I am too lazy to make a full ghillie suit so I just decided to make a mask veil, gun wrap, and cover my gloves. I would just wear camo anyday.

I made one like that about a year ago, exept I hate sewing so I glued it all in. worked fairly good. Nothing compared to the one I bought premade. It was only $75 with is really good for a premade suite.
