I used model paint then put layers of flat poly over it.

Think and give them all you have from the beginning, and never weaken!

Thanks, I used two different patterns. The tank and back of hopper Vs. the rest, I'm not sure which I like more yet.

One of the few self done paintjobs i like.

EDIt i like the tank design better, but both are great.

I went to a hobby store to pick up some paint. 5 little bottles for $2.50 a piece. I used more then half of each of them but have some left over if it needs touch-ups. Enamel paint made by Model Master: Flat Black, European Gray, Armor Sand, Green Zinc Chromate, and Medium Field Green. They went on in that order. I sponged the black and gray, then paintbrushed the others. For the tank, drop forward, and part of the hopper I sponged instead of brushed the loam and green. I paintbrushed the gas fittings. Finally I put some layers of Miniwax Polycrylic in a nice dull Clear Satin to protect it. My intention was to have the black and gray as a backround for shadow effect, then the green and brown forground to match all the light leafy vegitation in Florida. Master of no particular environment, but good at many. When you look at it from a distance it does that digital camo effect, the small pattern forms a larger one and gets fuzzy which makes it less noticed.

My hands will be over those so it will wear more, and you won't see the color anyway. I also left the back left corner of the hopper unpainted so that I can see when I get low on paint if I'm opening up with it. I am thinking about putting black athletic grip tape over the grip/palmers also. It gets slick when the condensation/sweat/paint gets on it.
