HPA with R/T

I've heard stories of HPA ruining the performance of the R/T.  Will HPA cause my R/T to drop in performance?

This a problem for me because the field I'll be using from now on only fills HPA, so I need to rent a tank every time I play.  I'm contemplating getting co2 fills befor going each time, but I'd like to be assured that HPA will most likely not cause the r/t to go down the toilet.

In a sense the performance will drop, but with some adjusting the performance with HPA will be the same as it would with CO2. See, the output pressure with HPA is consistent at 850 psi (or 450 psi with a Low Output tank), while with CO2 it differs. A full CO2 tank in room temperature has a pressure of around 1200 psi or so, which result in a  higher pressure going into your gun, making the R/T more responsive and easier to sweetspot. But with HPA, the pressure going into your gun stays at 850 psi, no matter how full or what the temperature is (excluding when the tank is empy or very near of course, same as with CO2). But since you have the Super R/T mod, the R/T with HPA should still be fast, when well tuned.

Soooooooo... essentially, I'll just have to tune it with the screw out a bunch more, because of the lower psi?

(right now it's only out like 2 threads)

^^Meh... I'm not sure how much farther out you'd have to have it, but it will take some tuning to get it to perform good.

You really shouldn't have a problem using HPA as long as the reg on the tank has a good recharge rate. I know some of the lower end tanks don't have regs that flow fast enough to work well with an RT. They just can't keep up the output pressure with the high rate of fire.

Alright, it could possibly hurt performance, here's why

Cheap tank with low recharge rate

RT isn't tuned right for tank output pressure

Lower output pressure than CO2(I've seen high pressure output tanks that have been 800 or 850psi, I'd guess 850 would be better)

These are easy problems to fix. You buy a good tank with an appropriate output pressure and adjust your RT if you have to. Generally to tune an RT, screw it all the way in, then back it off by a quarter turn, and shoot. It'll be easy to sweet spot, but give a low ROF. The further you turn it out(1/4 turn increments are good) the high the ROF, but harder it will be to sustain bursts. Keep going until you get a balance you like.

I personally think HPA improves RT performance over CO2. You're doing absolutly great if you can get off a 15 shot sting with CO2, and once it gets cold after a burst like that, good luck getting half that. With a properly tuned RT and HPA you can sustain a decent 10-12bps almost indefinatly depending on the marker of course. The tolerance are a bit different on individual guns.

I played with a borrowed A5RT for a good six months and the longest burst I acheived with paint was a full hopper plus 140 balls that I was pouring in while fireing. This was a final protective fire type situation that called for going cyclic. I'd say I got 12-15 eliminations in this burst.

 IT will work fine, if you have polished internals,high out put tank, and super RT mod then you Should be able to to achive 12-16bps when properly tuned.  So Yea if you can get it sweet spoted in that range with Hpa your in pritty good shape. I can get 20-40 ball strings out of my RT and even empty my Halo ever now and then. "when Im playing back of course."

I'll call the field and ask what brand tank they have and check if the refresh rate is good :)

if you dont want to switch to HPA u can get fill stations...u just get a tank and buy a hook-up for like $30

the fill station costs about..well its $150 where i go...i have two and that is a lot more than enough
