I had an idea for a game, let me know
what you guys think or how I can improve it, I am hoping to introduce
it to the guys I play with. Oh update I was thinking that it can be
up to the assult person to decide if they want to replace a defence
player in the next round if they shoot them, they might decide that
they would rather still be on assult and the defense player that was
shot by them could return to the fort for the next round. |

Way too complicated. Drop the paint limitations and just play!
*FYI we defended (11 vs over 100) one day at our park. Man that was hella fun! Yep I ran out of paint just as the wistle went off. Offtopic.... Isnt your name spelled BeoWulf? Edited by Justice - 08 March 2006 at 3:33pm |

I thought that the paint limitation would make it fair for the 3 people
in the bunker, some of the guys we play with have ions, etc.. and it
would be kind of hard to defend if you had 12 guys or more firing
thousands of paintball's at you, the idea was to not make the game too
one sided. Also if there are thousands of paintballs being fired on the
3 or less in the fort, how likely are they to stick their heads up to
return fire.
As for the name, no my nmae is not spelled BeoWulf after the greek character, it is Baewolf, I lived in an area that started with the letters Bae and they nicknamed me the Wolf so I ended up with Baewolf |

sounds like a good idea, but the odds of getting everyone to follow the rules and stipulations are slim to none...

I thought of that, but maby not the guys I play with are all pretty good friends and we have yet to have a someone get caught doing something like wiping off a paintball once shot, etc.... Besides it would be a great way to improve a persons skills, and even if you get shot you can play again |

We played a similar game to this. We had like five people behind a fortified wall with two gaurd towers, and like 15 people assaulting it. The assault team was allowed to go back to their end of the field and respawn once if hit and were limited to a full hopper. The players in the fort could have as much ammo as they felt necassay. We also allowed one respawn for defensive players, but this required that they walk outside of the wall and touch a pole about five yards into the field, as son as theyu let go they were fair game. This encouraged the defenders to take a bit of ground. The assaulting team had trees and bunkers for most of it, but the last ten or so yards was open ground, this meant you really neeeded to supress nd then get around the wall and use the bends in it for cover. The biggest problem I had defending was that it was a good length of wall for that many people to cover. If a guy in a tower gets plinked, it's harder to defend your flanks. Assaulting, the problem was of course the towers and windows. Also, you had to do a careful count of how many different players were behind the wall, or you left yourself open to big problems. Occasionally they sneak sombody out into a bunker in front of the wall that totally concealed him. He'd just sit there and if someone ran by to rush the wall, he'd shoot them in the back. His buddies in the fort could give him hand signals to warn when someone was coming. Somebody was literally shooting over his head from the other side of the bunker without knowing he was there, and every time someone rushed they'd get plinked. The other problem was frienly fire once you got inside the fort. People would just shoot at movement behing windows or any head over the wall. I was able to take out a tower(so I though) and get behind the wall undetected, but was unable to bring anybody else in, since when I tried to signal, I had a hail of paint lobbed at me. I managed to suprise the three people shooting from behind the high wall section with windows since they were so engrossed with the fire up front. I immediatly took two rounds in the back from the remaining player in the tower, which I thought was empty. The lesson of this is to have good communication on your assault, and try to get more than one person behind the line. Also, keep a good count. I should have known I missed someone when I only saw three players behind the wall. I had assumed there was only one person in the tower, because only one at a time fired. This may be a good defensive strategy to show your opponent weakness when you are strong. Very Sun Tzu. EDIT: Beowulf was not a Greek character, it was a story in old English that probably took place in Scandanavia. Edited by rednekk98 - 08 March 2006 at 3:57pm |

Thanks for the stratagy tips, I will take them into consideration and
give them a try, still do it sounded like your game was pretty fun, we
would be doing it on a smaller scale though. The defence respawn idea
sounds good to, I may try to work in in there some how

"Only allowed 30 paintballs" No you get to refill your paint balls after you shoot the 30 "If you shoot some out you are out for a while as well" The rounds only last 30 minutes, and what if you keep playing and shoot a second person, will you be replacing both players in the next round "Once thy shoot there 30 balls they need to wait 5 mins to play again" No I said that if they get shot you need to wait 5 minutes to play again, if you run out of paintballs you just go back to base refill and come back "Why would you play this at all." It is just an idea for a game, mind you all the faults you picked out in the game, were not even there, READ SLOWERRRRRR |

I'd still reccomend getting rid of time limits and go for an elimination based game with two respawns for each team(or two for defence, three for assault) Also change it to one hopper for assault, it's easier than counting 30 paintballs, allows them to actually supress, but still limits them. If they do run out and need to reload, make them leave the field of play to do it. That way if they're reloading when the rest of their team gets wiped out, it's over. I'd also change the whoever shoots them gets to go on defense next, since it can occasionally be difficult to figure out who shot who in these situations. If you're going to do anything like that, let the person who shot out the last player pick the defense team. Simplify, simplify. |

Cool sounds good, I was thinking along the same lines with the hopper though, but at long as a full hopper doesn't mean that the defence gets wiped out each round, maby adjust it if the game becomes too one sided, as for the confusion of who shot who, you may be right on that one |

If the defense gets wiped out to easily, just adjust the number of players instead of the amount of paint. Put more people behind that wall, or change the respawns.
