    Posted: 05 April 2006 at 7:02pm
I recently purchased a flatline and im pretty happy with it accept one thing. The ball when shot through the barrel has great distance and decent accuracy for going as far as it is. but even though its going a great distance the ball almost seems like it is going in slow motion and would be very easily dodged, kinda like the ball is floating ( god knows most paintballs you can dodge but this is kinda rediculous ) Could anyone give me some feed back on if it is suppose to do this? Thanks

When you give a paintball added distance at the same velocity, that tends to happen.

It looks that way, but it's really not going slow.

So, the ball is traveling faster then it seems because of the rotation im guessing?

well, it seems to be traveling slower because we as humans aren't accustomed to seeing an object fly straight for that amount of time. we're used to seeing a parabolic path, where the ball gradually falls to the ground.
let me tell ya, i've been pinned down behind a tree by a guy with an a5 and flatline, and it definitely seemed like the balls were in slow motion when they were coming towards me...until i got hit

its sort of like an illusion b/c of the lack of arc, you can't catch the paint or dodge it, dont be fooled.

285 fps is 285 fps, no matter how you slice it.

Yep.  It only looks that way because it's moving in a straight line.

who would try to catch a paintball??? That would be very stupid, painful, and it would get you out if you did manage to do it.

Oh, there have beem plenty of pikers in the past who were obviously ninja master wanna be's who claimed that their Kung Fu was strong and they regularly caught Flatline shots out of mid-air at their local fields.

Despite repeated attempts to convince them otherwise, they just couldn't seperate paintball rules from dodgeball rules.

I have caught paint before, and it didn't break.  When me and my buddies get bored with going out and shooting each other up, we have paint catching contests. They lose alot.
