Most will say that a length between 8" and 14" will work. The way it was explained to me is that a barrel shorter than 6" will not give the ball enough distance in the bore to stabilize befor eexiting the barrel. Any barrel over 14" will help stabilize the ball but will create excesse friction on the ball, causing you to crank up the velocity to get the proper FPS aswell as increasing gas consumption. The Lapco Bigshots get excellent reviews check out http://pbreview.com just search for Lapco Bigshot and you can read all the different reviews. I personally want to get the 8" Bigshot for my A5. Hope this helps you on your quest, LOL

Length doesn't matter at all. All three lengths will shoot the same.

i put a ruler to the tip of my gun and seems 12'' is too long, i'm going with the 8'' bigshot, correct me if im wrong but the 8'' looks thicker in diameter than the others, anyway im also gonna get a lapco foregrip, the bead blasted one will look great with the 8'' bigshot. anyone got a link to hard to find, rare or just cool lookin foregrips? also, im gonna play a couple more games before i consider getting a QEV, seems like 15bps is good enough right now. |

the only advantage that a longer barrel would have is if you were playing speedball and you were trying to poke your gun around the bunkers.
i play woodsball, and i have a 14'' J&J barrel. it's long enough that i can poke it through some shrubs and not expose the whole gun as much as the stock 8.5'' barrel... |

A 14" barrel is long enough for an A5. Perhaps even too long... The first 6-8" are used for acceleration of the ball. The rest 6-8" are more for stabilisation of the ball flight (not enough pressure anymore behind the ball after the first 6-8" in the barrel).
