A5 rear pushpin breaks

ANy ideas??

I have a spec ops dog leg stock on my A5, after a day of bushball and about 800 rounds fired I noticed that my  stock was a little loose. I dismantled the gun to clean it and I found that both rear pushpins where broken in half. 

I had a little difficulty putting the push pins in my new stock when I bought it ... I had to use a hammer to tap the push pins in as the wouldnt go in very smoothly but a few gentle taps and they slid right in.

SO what could have caused both push pins to break and how can I avoid this again??  Any ideas?

Any hard hits to the stock repeatedly will cause the pins to break. The only way to prevent it is to be a little more careful about hitting your hard against things.

Thanks but there were no hard hits at all to the stalk. It is confusing ... I am wondering if so how the action of the gun itself is causing the pins to break ... but I am not sure this is possible.

I don't know if I did the link right. It is under the heading "Ever Seen This?" in this maintenance forum.

It seems others have had this problem with a stock mounted.

Using a stock on an A-5 causes undue stress on the take-down pins.
Buy a bunch. They are cheap.

They break or bend after a while. The longer, heavier stocks put even more pressure on them.

    That's a bummer. I was thinking of adding the Ben Tippmann folding stock as a future upgrade. I plan to make minimum use of a stock anyway, so a folding stock will be better than a fixed one.

    Does anyone know if the problem is one of leverage stress with a heavy stock? Or is it a problem of alignment caused by using nonstandard parts? Are the stocks not serving as a good end cap?

the thing is that puting on a stock adds extra stress to the pins, I mean think about it, almost the entire weight of the stock rests on those two pushpins. and guess you aren't using the stock, you got the entire weight pushing down on the pins, also, when you ARE using the stock, you have the force of you pushing the stock into the shoulder also pressing against the pins, also don't forget the pressure pushing back against it the other way from the drive spring when the gun is cocked. all in all, using a stock puts alot of stress on the pins...... my sugestion, buy a ton of pushpins, or try and get a stronger set which can deal with the pressure better.

Hey i've had the same thing happen to me with the OpsGear G36 folding Stock. I determined it was due to the angle it folded at and the pressure exursion.

In the end, I just bought s new stock. nothing can really fix this, but sanding down the stock holes that the pins fit through helps their life. You don't need to hammer them in. If this is the case, enlarge those holes slightly. You'll see this done on a number of reviews with various tippmann stocks.
