I would go with a more established company, like Tokyo Marui.

Airsoft is a fun and growing sport.
Tippmann airsoft guns are fair entry level guns. Will get you into the game and understanding the operation of the guns. .12's are very inaccurate and too light for any range. The better AEG's such as Tokyo Mauri, or Classic Army are more advanced, higher FPS out of box and are the standard mid level guns. Use .20, .23, or .25's and accuracy increases dramatically. My high ends are around 400fps, reach out @100meters and pack a little wallop with .23's or .25's, and if you get hit with a .32 from my M14 at range you will know it. |

I actually want a SOC 16 but thats going to take a while to get enough money for something like that ($470) I guess ill just go ahead and get me one of these guns....it will outshoot a Tokyo Marui M14 stock, the magazine holds 470 rounds and it looks badass (in my opinion)

I'll put a little FAQ thing in here on the sport. 1. Why is the barrel tip orange? It has to be legaly, its the only way cops can identify them from other guns since they're becoming so realistic, its a crime to paint it any color then orange, you can be fined or arrested for painting over it. 2. Does it hurt as bad as paintballing? Plain and simple, No. Being hit with a little plastic BB doesnt hurt as bad as being hit with a paintball. 3. Whats the differance in grams with BB's? the .12 gram is very light, and will fly very fast, so it has less drop then any other BB because gravity has less time to pull it down. But since the wind can more easily move somthing light, it has less accuracy the the .20 or .25's. the .20 gram is my personal favorite, it is light enough to go very fast, yet a very dramatic increase in accuracy over a .12 the .25 gram is about the heaviest you will normally find, it drops more then any other since it moves slower but it will fly the straightest. the .28 gram is relativly rare other then in the 6mm paintballs which i dont recommend since they will bust with a gun thats too powerfull. 4. Whats the best brand? Easily Tokyo Marui, problem is they're very exspensive. 5. Does it matter what type of gun I get? Yes, unlike paintball, each guns has differant velocity, range, accuracy and rate of fire, so do your research first. (I'm bored now, so I'm done.) |

Actually Tokyo Mauri are considered as plastic mid level guns. The CA, G+G, G+P series are High end, metal bodied, full replicas in weight and size.
Standard field FPS limits on AEG's are 400fps or lower with .20's. Fields vary due to sport still "private", but 400fps is a recognized safety norm. Special weapons such as "sniper" rifles are allowed higher FPS limits, up to 550fps, but have minimum range (usually greater than 30meters) restrictions for safety purposes. Impact energy of 20/25g BB's will be felt. Get hit by a heavier BB from a special weapon some "dancing" can be expected as the target feels the hit. And a LMG/SAW volumn will also let you know you have been hit. I have a TOP M60STD upgraded to 350fps w/.25's and rof slowed to 650rpm A G+G M14W V3 upgraded as a special weapon (XM21 Sniping System) at 440fps with w/.28's or .32's. A Upgraded Metal Bodied Tokyo Mauri M16A1 VN upgraded to 390fps w/.25's. A G+P XM177E2 out of box 360fps w/.25's A G+P M16A1 VN out of box 380fps w/.25's. |

I've got a bunch and most don't work. Overcharged battery for my MP5 and cheep spring pistols that finally went capoot. And my shotgun was screwed up by some dork at the store who claimed to be an expret in airsoft guns and repair, he took it apart and forgot to put peices back in. I managed to get the trigger and everything working again but it only has enough fps to get the bb out the barrel. If I'm lucky I can shoot 3 feet. Moron.
Anyway, all things taken into concideration, it can cost just as much as paintball to get into and less to keep going. Thats why I got into it. I'd either buy a cheep AEG or go all out and spend the $300 + to get a top line AEG. It depends on how deep in this you want to go. Oh but do not use the 6mm Paint Balls. They will screw your gun up so fast... They, like in paintball, break in the barrel and their is no way to esily clean it out. So your barrel will get clogged really fast. Its not worth it. |

The cheaper entry level plastic guns are not a true airsoft gun. A $49.00 AEG with taped AAA batteries in series are POJ's, and will not give you a good indication of the true weapons. The mid to high level guns with lithium or NicCad batteries will last forever with the proper maintenence.
Once you buy a good AEG $250-500, a few midcap magazines usually 10 mags for @$55, and a good battery and charger $18-65, your cost to play for a day will be considerably less than paintball. 3750 .20gr 6mm bb's $11.00 a bag. It is a growing sport, and the tolerance for cheating and the less than honorable behavior becoming the norm in paintball is "you are gone" and not invited back, since most games and groups are "private" and none of this commercial play for profit that is the norm in paintball. |

Ive accually been slightly into airsoft ever since I was like ten. I won a no name really good metal/plastic P8 airsoft pistol when I was ten, I didnt realize its greatness and didnt take the bestest(I so just made that up) care of it. Now I have a few cheap pistols and a decent AEG. Well, entry level AEG which is fairly accurate with .20's but has horrible accuracy. The AEG is a Cyma M83, Ive seen extra clips and stufff for it but no upgrade kits, anyone know If I can "jack up" the velocity?
