I decided to polish my internals today. I took off the powertube not knowing that the screws holding it in were sealed. There was also this red crusty stuff on the powertube and screws. How should I go about putting the powertube back in my gun?

Thats just the locktight that the factory uses to help keep the screws in place.. They typically come loose. I've removed my power tubes several times on my 98's and replaced them w/o using anything. Just check them periodically to make sure thety are not loose. Also.. make sure not to over tighten them. The metal that the valve is made of is very soft and will easily strip. |

One shot, One kill.... Oh, wait. What fun is that? TEN shots, one kill, and a bunch of welts on your back.

You can, it's not a bad idea. But, try using the blue thread locker rather than the red stuff. Blue holds as well but can be removed more easily with less likelihood of striping the screw head sockets when you need to take it apart again. Edited by Bruce A. Frank - 13 July 2006 at 8:31pm |
