    Posted: 07 August 2006 at 6:57pm

im sure this has been asked before but i was wondering, if enough time (not money) was put into this. would it be possible to make (a) reciever(s) made out of plexi glass, just for the fun of it.

I was thinking i could lay a sheet of plexi glass on top of the inside of the reciever and use a heat to make it soft then press it into the grooves of the reciever. im sure i'd have to do some messuring and all that but would plexi glass be a problem. I wouldnt care about the outside looking perfect either. just making it see-through would be cool. please put some thought into this with me. thanks

idk if plexiglass would be strong enough....you'd have to find out from manufacturers beforehand...

Plexi-glass or Lexan, does not like oils, it would form cracks.

Bahhahahahaha

Youd have to make a mold. But after you do that, you could put fiberglass(very cheap and easy to use), or carbonfiber(more expensive).

I dunno, if you could pull it off it would be cool as hell.

But it would seem to me that if it was practical, some company would have already started doing this as a cheaper alternative to the metal recievers.

?

lexan and plexi glass can be bent... they have kits out there u can buy but actually it wouldnt be that hard to make that shape of an a-5... or im sure there is places out there that r pros with this kinda stuff and could prolly make anythin out of plexi glass or lexan... i would try to use lexan its stronger and that much more money then plexi.

*edit*
alien i hope u dont mind but im goin to try this out... i think its a really cool idea
