My friend asked me to preside over his wedding this coming Spring. I think that'll be pretty cool, that I'll get that place in the ceremony. I've been ordained in the Universal Life Church for some time now, but have yet to be able to perform a wedding. They'll ordain anybody, but it's completely legal and has standing with the government.
It'll be a small affair, so I won't be officiating a wedding of 200 or anything. Still, I'll get to legally marry my friend to his girlfriend. How many people get to do that? |

Heh. I am a minister in the ULC too...
Although I am pretty sure you need to be a notary public as well. Edited by Tae Kwon Do - 22 August 2006 at 6:21pm |

I remember hearing somewhere that everyone can legally marry one couple without being a priest and such. I could be utterly and completely wrong though.

Some states require a notarized copy of a Letter of Good Standing or your credentials, but mine isn't one of those. I also have time to make sure we're in compliance with the county. Edited by reifidom - 22 August 2006 at 6:34pm |

I'm a minister as well.
Be glad you have a friend who respects you enough to ask you to do that. Good luck. |

it'd be sweet if you slipped your name in in place of his during the ceremony, so afterwards you can brag about how you married his gf.
