has anyone out there took there shell on a 98 custom and cut it so you can get to the front bolt to clean easier? i have seen it done on a couple of markers and was thinkg about doing it to mine.any suggestions on where to cut it.i was going to use a bandsaw cause of the blade thickness is so small and cut it straight up through the middle of the caseing screw in front of the trigger. like 50/50 the screw hole so the front will still have 3 points of fasting.give me some feed back.

yes this is a well known mod known as a Quick-strip mod. some people cut it different places, but in general people do cut somewhere around that receiver screw you were talking about. some cut on angles, some cut straight up the receiver. in general, it doesnt really matter. using a thin blade is a good idea so you dont have a big gap. hope this helps |

Snick said it all. Do cut it on that screw so everything is nice and sturdy when it is all screwed together. I think some people actually have drilled for another hole so both sides had a good hold in the middle section. That wouldn't be neccesary as long as you cut it on that screw.
