I have an a-5 Tippman with E-grip. This is not the new e-grip with W.A.S. Board in it, and also the gun is made of steel not the aluminum or plastic ones that they are now selling. My problem is, and this is a new problem but the gun will stop firing randomly, more so on turbo/fully auto than on single fire. It will cock back but not FULLY. I have to cock it back the 1/4 inch to get it to fire. It happens VERY often, and really messes up my train of fire. I Haven't dissasembled it yet but am going too but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and knows what it is. My friend with a tippman 98 was also having this problem today, and it is a recent issue of my gun. When I first got it, this never happened, but now it is a frequent problem. It does not matter if I have a filled tank or half filled tank on the gun, this still happens. I oil it frequently also. When it stops firing I have to cock it back (it is already partially cocked so I just have to finish it off the last 1/4 inch when you actually feel pressure) you hear something click and the it will fire fine for SOME time, and then this repeats itself. Sometimes its 1 shot, sometimes its 20+ shots later. It really messes up my game. Putting it on single fire mode helps, but it still will do this. I talked to the people at the paintball shop, they said just oil it and it is a common problem on tippmans. Well I oil the @#$# out of it and this problem still persists. Can anyone help?
Pretty much have to have my hand on the cocker and pull it back the last 1/4 inch to get this gun to actually work efficiently. Can something be lose? A bad spring? Gun used to shoot like a champ, but trying to train my shots on someone then having it do this crap really makes this gun a piece of crap. Please someone, share the info! |

using too much oil could actually cause your problem replace batteries as they may not have the power to trip sear. clean out your sear maybe switch to hpa but i don't think it's an air problem |

Open it up, clean it thoroughly with hot water and soap. Lightly oil the gun when you reassemble it. When you first shoot put 5 drops of oil in the ASA so that it cycles through the gun also. Make sure when you reassble it you tighten all the screws equally and in turn. Over tightening screws can damage the reciever and potentially cause bigger problems. I dont think your problem is in the Trigger seeing as it never makes it all the way back to latch. Your drive spring is a likely culprit. Try replacing it with an aftermarket kit like Trinity or Maddmann sell. Hope you figure it out.
