You don't need burst discs.  A burst disc is that screw on the tip of your co2 tank and only bursts if the pressure inside is too high.  If you don't know what a burst disc is or if you should get one or not, you probably shouldn't be installing one yourself in case of a burst.  You don't need them.

You should however invest in a parts kit for your tippmann incase you break or lose parts.

Do you get a parts kit with the marker when its new in the box or is this something you have to order from tippman?

You won't need a parts kit. I doubt you will break anything as long as you aren't opening the gun up and smashing the insides with a hammer. You shouldn't need a burst disk either.

You might want a harness and some pods to carry some extra paint on you for longer games. Will you have co2 to refill your tank? If not, you might want to buy atleast one 20oz tank. One 20oz tank will give you approximately 1000 shots.

The burst disc is already on the tank, so don't buy more uness you blow a disc.

I have to disagree (somewhat) with Hybrid here.  All CO2 tanks come with a burst disc pre-installed, but whether or not you should have more on hand depends on where you're playing when your tank over-pressurizes and the disc blows, releasing all of your CO2 into the atmosphere:

  • If you're playing at an outlaw field that has no tank refilling capability, then there is no need to have the discs with you since even if you replace them you can't refill the tank.
  • If you're playing at a full-service field with a shop on sight, then there is no need to have the discs with you since you can just by a new disc when you have the tank refilled.
  • If you're playing with folks who have rented/purchased bulk CO2 for refilling at the play location, then it is a good idea to have a couple of these with you in case of problems. (Because they probably won't.)

I've never had a co2 burst disk blow on me and I live in Texas and it gets hot. Burst disks only cost a few bucks at academy. Getting the burst disks there can be a lot cheaper than at a field. I was charged $10 once to get a burst disk changed out. Later i found out they put the wrong one on that was very dangerous. Atleast I got them to pay me back later.

I've never had one blow either, and have only seen a few go off in my several years of play. I also post under the assumption that the OP is not going to go out in the middle of nowhere and start playing, because that's not what I do and therefore not what I take into consideration when making recommendations.

That's exactly what we do. (Go out in the middle of nowhere with maybe one or two guys that bring cases of paint/CO2/scuba tank to sell stuff to others.)  I usually bring a few tools as well because it seems like at least once a day I'm working on someone elses marker.

Edited Note:  I have seen quite a few burst discs go, but never on anything larger than a 9 oz.  In most cases, basic common sense could have prevented it.  (Don't fill 4 oz tanks more than half full, keep other tanks out of direct sunlight, etc.)
