Hey

I have about 45 M98 custom and 20 of them all of the sudden have the same problem.  When I turn the gas on and start shooting it keeps firing until I pull the bolt handle.

Things I already checked or renewed: The sear, the sear pin (black), the sear spring, the bolt, the Oring on the bolt.

The weapons are ony half a year old and look in good shape.  once the gas is turned open and I shoot the valve and powertube go icecold, ice forms and cold air leaves the gun.  Both valve bolts go white because the cold.

Has someone any idea what this can be?

thanks

if you bought 45 of them im assuming you own a field. my best guess is maybe the CO2 if thats what your using, maybe some is leaking into the gun, you'd be better off using N2, its a more consistant gas and works better in the markers. also, this really goes without saying, make sure the CO2 tanks are full

So is it a constant firing, or blurping?

The temp outside can play a huge factor in the stuff being cold.

When you put the tank on does it leak? after you fire does it leak?

yep indeed I own a field (check www.gameout.be it is dutch but there are some nice pictures, it is an indoor park)

The co2 is in constant temp here.  I had trouble before with a tank (something was broken inside the big tank).  Is there a way to easily measure how full the tank is?  We go by the feel, some of the staff has experience with it.

It is a constant firing until I touch the bolt handle again so it stops.

NExt is: new rear bolt, new sear, new driving spring.  I'll update

More tips are welcome

You can get a small electronic fish scale. Doing things by feel is never a good way to do anything that can explode.

Its most likely the tank, i thought i broke my gun but it turns out the tank i was using was screwed up, it was my friends though. The field i go to uses weight to measure if its full or not, its very simple devise that you just screw on. Nice field by the way.

I guess you are talking about the 12oz tank and not the big one that fills the little ones.

Anyway, if that is the problem I don't understand why 25 other markers still work without a problem.

I'm gonna do some testing with it, today I got some new parts, will put them in tomorow, updates will come

Thanks guys

problem solved!

I put in a new sear, a new drive spring and a new O ring for the rear bolt.  It seems that the O ring for some of the Tippmann 98C with ACT were not all that good and the sear seems to be more sensitive then I thought.  A little rounded edge is enough to create trouble.  I also bought a weight scale and I did some testing with the 12oz tanks, they are all fine and I start weighing them now!

Anyway ... thanks for all the tips
