I have a tippmann A-5 right now and for the first day of use it worked wonders, the next day when I invited my friends over to show it off to them, the cyclone feed system wasn't feeding, from that day on iv had to either click the manual feed or use my other gun. I took off the system to see if the gun was even putting air into it, and it was so its most likely the system itself.

NOTE: iv tryed it with a full tank of co2 and even with my friends compressed air and it stil wont bother to move.

Check your ratchet in the internals of the cyclone. And just make sure everything is clean first then give us an update

yeah its all clean, I also just read the topic titled "Marker Trouble? Read Maintenance Archive" and it gave me 9 or 10 different reasons my cyclones not working. im pretty sure it was either the stock I had on it or the drive spring (bent it a little bit a while back being stupid)
if it by some wierd chance its not 1 or 2 of the many ill give you guys an update. meanwile thanks alot for reading the topic, love the quick reply(s).

Ratchet is most likely IMO. Just open up the bottom of the cyclone, no need to take it apart. If the ratchet is broken, it will be obvious. I recommend replacing it with the vortex mod, just because the metal vortex ratchet will never need replacing, while a replacement plastic ratchet may. It also cycles a tad faster if you want that.

Just beware of the lightning rod.  I went through 2 of those and am back to the plastic one till they get a better lighning rod.

The vortex mod works great.

Beware the lightening rod?  There was nothing wrong with them except for the roller bearing they used.  I ruined mine trying to replace it with the new brass bushing.  Just sent it back to them and they gave me a new one at no charge.

How common of a problem is this?   I just ordered the cyclone feed for my 98C.  Should I just order the vortex and put it in before I install the feeder?

I have a R/T and bought the adapter kit w/ the feeder.  I have the r/t trigger set pretty low, only about 5 bps, I run a regulator set at 750psi, and I hardly ever shoot in long bursts.  Should I expect a problem with the stock ratchet?

What do you guys think about using some waterproof grease to lubricate some of the system parts?  It would last longer than gun oil, and should be ok with o-rings, (it's ok with rubber seals in a car).

If that is the fastest you plan on shooting, you won't have a problem with your cyclone feeder or it's internals.  I ran my A-5 with the pre-WAS Egrip at 13bps for two years without a problem.  I only upgraded my cyclone when I changed over to the new APE board so I could throw more paint when I wanted to.

The new fellow wins this thread. Think cause and effect people, if the manual feed works, the ratchet obviously is not the problem. Spot on co0kie, good way to make an enterance on the forum.

Thus the only thing can be air-related. Pull the cyclone air line off the gun, fire a few shots, can you feel air pulsing out the reciever tap? If not, your valve could be having trouble. If its getting air, I would suggest pulling the cyclone cylinder apart. Its easily done, remove the bottom plate and lift the cylinder out, careful its spring loaded. Is the seal on the piston grimed up or cruddy? Oil it just to be sure.

Wrong, New guy doesn't win this thread.

Its common when a Ratchet is chewed, that you can still get it to operate manually, yet wont work via air.

In fact, 90% of the time during a ratchet failure you can still manually cycle it.

So how bout you let experience speak instead of being ignorant.

manually advancing it performs the same function as using air pressure. Air just moves the piston faster, and with more physical pressure.

So how "bout" you use your head, before you try to call out an airsmith.

8th post down,
http://www.tippmann.com/forum/wwf77a/forum_posts.asp?TID=174 491&PN=1

happens all the time to all sorts of people.

So how "bout" you use your head, before you try to call out a Robotic Engineer who designs electro-mechanical and pneumatic systems for a living.

Or even better, calling out a person who has seen this happen personally on 3 seperate occasions on 3 different markers.

Here's your golf clap

Your fancy job doesn't impress me.

manually advancing it still performs the same function as the air pressure, no matter how you want to think it works.
