    Posted: 11 February 2008 at 9:28am
I have a tippmann X-7 with E-grips and a Flatline barrel. The first time i shot the gun, i put about 1000 balls through it and it never missed a beat. I got down to a big scenario game and after about the third shot it busted a ball. Well i somehow played through the first round with a squgee and a swab in my hand. At lunch i torn down the cyclone feed and the ratchet had broke. I replaced the ratchet and the gun was shotting every time but was still busting balls. So when i got home i ordered the tech mod and the V rod. Put them in just to get rid of the plastic internals. The gun is still busting balls on fully auto mode. i can't tell whether they are busting in the feed or in the chamber. Someone said the gun could be out of time with the cyclone feed. Can Anyone help me out?

What kind of paint are you using, how cold is it, and how old is the paint.  The flatline likes small bore paint, cold makes the balls brittle, and older balls are brittle as well.  Other than that I am not sure.  I have never heard of the cyclone not being timed.

The paint was supposed to be new, but it was pretty cold.  I had about a thousand balls left over after the game so I shot them once I redone my cyclone and they still busted. So it may have been the balls. I think the balls were Blizzard balls.

those are bigger too.  try a ball like RPS premium or spend extra and get 500 marbs. if that doesnt work i dont know.  it sounds like they are breaking in the barrel to me. also make sure the paint is room temp when you go to fire it.

Here is a chart you can look at to check Paintball bore sizes.  I don't know how accurate the information is, but it isn't a bad place to start when looking for small to medium bore paint that works well with the Flatline Barrel.

Also, what was your X-7's velocity setting?  If it works anything like the A-5's Flatline barrel, you'll need to keep the velocity approximately between 260-275fps.
