I did a search for this problem, but came back with 374 matches. My computer is slow so it takes forever for me to read all these posts. I went paintballing with my new marker (98 Custom with a J&J 12inch barrel) for the first time and was unable to get the velocity above 240fps. Turned the velocity screw all the way in and out. No change at all. I was using a remote with a 20oz CO2. Not sure if that matters or not. Everything was brand new. I bought 2 of everything for me and my son. My son's marker went to 290 no problems. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Sounds like a faulty rear drive spring. Contact Tippmann and they might be able to give you new one. If they won't give you a new one for free, just pick up a Maddmann Spring kit which can be found for about $5 at any decent paintball store.

If the new spring doesn't do the trick, can you tell me how to check for leaks? I saw this come up in an older post but no one actually wrote out the procedure. Thanks again for all your help! |

Was your son's marker using a remote also? When you turn on the remote via knob, turn back the knob about a quarter turn. Sometimes poor machining causes them to actually block the air passage.
