I have an old tippmann 98 recently bought an i love it except for the fact there is no a.c.t or really no upgrades except for a new barrel. I dont have the double trigger or anything but it cant shoot as fast as i can not even close. when im trying to unload on someone it just chops. So what i want to know is first of all if there is a person or place that sells these a.c.t. rear bolts and springs. If not is there another option thats semi-cheap that will increase my rounds per secound

well you can get them from tippmanparts.com i believe of you can put a cyclone on it and you wont have nearly as many chops if any.

theres an ACT mod on model98.org which involves cutting the front bolt and putting a spring in there somewhere... I don't have a link to this mod right now, just search around model98.org.

act would be great, but for us older 98 owners, i would suggest a better hopper. i would guess you're using a gravity fed hopper or a really slow revy. centerfeed your marker and get a halo. i would be surprised if your marker couldn't keep up then.

It would be cheaper to buy a new ACT 98 then get the ACT upgrade. I would recomed getting a cyclone though it reduces chopping a lot.

Hey, I juat picked up a spyder mr-1 as a second marker for my wife (i shoot an A-5), any chance it can be modded to use Tippmann's act. It was chopping something fierce.

^^^ No.
What type of hopper is on it? If you have access to a force-fed hopper, try that and see if it still chops. (Spyders's used to be renowned for having enough blow back coming past the bolt to interfere with chambering sufficiently to cause chops. I don't know if this still applies or not, but testing with a different hopper may help if it does.) |
