98 pressure loss

I am working on a 98 with response trigger.  The gun will shoot ok at a slow rate, say one shot per second, but if you shoot any faster it will stop shooting after 4 to 5 shots.  There is a noticible loss of pressure as the gun recocks but if you slow down rate of fire it will keep shooting, almost as if something is resticting the flow of CO2.  Shot velocity it great.  O-rings look good, no cracks in powertube, no audible air loss, the braided line from asa to tube is clear (no trash blocking the flow).

Any ideas?  Anything to do with the response trigger?  If you tighten the screw on it, the trigger pull gets hard just as it should, and it seems to work good when set to rock and roll but the pressure drops before you get off many shots.

Try another Co2 tank for starters and make sure your not using a remote.(theory)

No remote...tried it with a fresh tank, with a half full tank.  No flakes. This happens after 5 to 10 shots depending on rate of fire.  I can shoot several times as long as I shoot slow but grab the gun and try to fire off some fast shots...the first three will be fine but then you can feel the gun is not getting the same pressure and it will fail to recock on about the fifth shot...as if the CO2 flow into the valve is being slowed down by something.  Have even tried firing the gun pointed down so it will draw liquid CO2 but no change.

Oil in the ASA is always the first 'fix' and usually works.  Tried a new rear spring..no difference.  Have not gotten into the valve but looks like that may be the only place left to try.

Not freezing up.  I'm talking grab it off the work bench, put on a tank (full, half-full, hot, cold) and squeeze off five quick shots and the gun is dead.  Squeeze off slow shots and keep on shooting.

Anyway, took it completely apart including the valve, cleaned and oiled everything.  Put it back together.  Let it set for a day.  Fixed.
