Strategy

Does anybody have a good strategy for playing in a 1 on 1 tournament. It is best 2 out of 3 each game and it is a double elimination bracket. Never played in a tourny before and was looking for a helping hand. It is a speedball tourny on a relatively small course. Only about 100 yds long by 25-30 yds wide.

im gonna try a 1on1 tourney in september, ive never tournied before, and i only have a few cases of woodsball under my belt.  my plan is to rush up the gut, til i make middle, then try to bunker

im better at running than shooting. im just a newb

Run and shoot and your set.

1on1 try not to use mid a lot you have to worry if he goes wide on you, say if he went up snake he gets behind you. Try to make sure you find a spot that has good vision of feild and preferably doesnt require you to focus just as much attention on both sides, if you only have to worry about watching one main side its a lot less nerve racking.
 

The best way to play 1 vs. 1 games is to make the other guy do all the work. The following tactics work at any point in the game.

1) Plan your first bunker and one of several alternate bunkers before the game. The bunker should be tall, close to you, and towards the side of the field, and should also have a good view of the rest of the field)

2) Run to your first bunker, watch the opponent as you get to it. Don't waste your time or paint shooting as you get to it.

3) Let him identify where you are by shooting at him. This lets you see where he is, because he is certain to respond. If you know where he is without having to shoot at him, skip this step through the first step of 5. You can and may need to do these things later in the game, so keep them in mind.

4) Get in an a gunfight with him between the two bunkers. This should last about 10 to 20 seconds to let the opponent think you have no intentions of moving. Note what side of the bunker he usually shoots from.

5) Force the opponent into his bunker and immediately go to one of your alternate but ideal bunkers without shooting as you go. You have two options here.

Let's say he usually shoots out of the right side of the bunker (from your perspective).

6a) If you go right, you risk exposure, but you will have an immediate opportunity to shoot him once he pops out again.

6b) If you go left, you have the opportunity to swing around a lot more. However, he may notice that you left the bunker (it takes longer for you to get a good shot on him) and may begin looking around before you get to another bunker.

In either case, you have to act quickly and get a good shot before he thinks to reposition himself.

7) Work your way around him and deliver the final shot when most of his body is exposed to you.


The general rules are:

1) To keep a moderate distance. Stay too close and your opponent will be quick to outflank you. Move too far and he'll move before the shots get to him.

2) Loose his sight early in the game, but make sure you keep track of where he is. Nothing scares a lone paintball player more than loosing sight of an opponent who he knows is hunting him.

3) Shoot only put him in the bunker before a quick getaway to another bunker, and to deliver the final blow. Don't take an eliminating shot unless you're absolutely positive that you will hit him.

4) Don't get into long, drawn out fights unless you know he's inexperienced and will get complacent with what you're doing.
