    Posted: 02 November 2008 at 6:01pm

This is my first post here so thanks in advance for any help.

I have an a5 that I just installed the R/T along with all the cyclone upgrades.  The marker previously had a Tippmann double trigger, red hot power tube and the Lapco collapsable stock.  No problems until the R/T install.  The marker now has a real heavy trigger pull.  I have to bury the trigger and pull hard to get it to even fire single shots and can't even begin to find the sweet spot.  The R/T kit looks to already have the larger hoses like the super R/T mod.  I am currently shooting out of a full CO2 tank but will be using Nitro as soon as I get my new tank filled.

Anyone see this?  I am considering getting the TechT Fang Trigger; any opinions on this?  I am not looking at the Fang Trigger to correct this but as another upgrade possibly.

Welcome to the forum.

You have the RT adjustment screw set too far to one direction.  Turn the screw in small increments and see if that doesn't help.

I have been doing that, and I will do it more tomorrow after I get my nitro filled.  I thought I was kinda wasting my time dialing it in with CO2 when I would be using nitro from here on out.

This may be a dumb question about the R/T, but at what point is the little pin that sits behind the trigger supposed to contact the back of the trigger?  Mine does not contact until I completely bottom out the trigger and then sometimes I have to pull what seems to be extra hard just to get the marker to fire.

as far as adjusting the R/T.... it dose take some time and do ajustments in small incraments.

the pin should push out and have some resistance on the trigger when the marker is aired up. this is what pushes agenst your finger to make is shioot in rapid sucession

Ok, the pin does not contact the trigger until it is almost bottomed out.  I will mess with this more to make sure I have everything installed correctly.  I am a mechanic, so this should be fairly easy I think.

Do you have a regulator on the HPA tank or an inline Stabilizer? If so, check and see what pressure you are at. The cyclone and RT on an A-5 run on excess gas from the blowback. If you regulate the HPA too far back, the marker essentially becomes too efficient and doesnt create enough excess to operate the Cyclone and RT. If you are running unregulated HPA, make sure you have a high pressure tank and not a low pressure.

Personally, I am not a fan of aftermarket powertubes as I had issues with mine in conjunction with the RT and CO2.

My tank is the Pure Energy - 5 Year N2 Tank - 110ci 4500psi that runs between 800-900 psi.  My main concern is about my trigger pull at this time.  It is so heavy that I cannot even begin to roll my fingers for rapid fire.  The trigger pull was fine until I installed the R/T and cyclone upgrades, so I will probably be taking the lower reciever apart and go back over everything.

If the pin is not hitting the trigger and it is hard to pull, than it sounds like something is binding. Maybe try loosening the recieiver halves a little. If the trigger is hard to pull when the pin is hitting the trigger, than you need to turn the valve on the RT counter clockwhise to set it.

I should better describe the "heavy" trigger pull.  The trigger is not binding, but actually moving quite smooth.  It does not fire the marker until it is bottomed out and sometimes I have to squeeze pretty hard to get the marker to fire.  If I remove one (either front or back) pin and separate the lower and upper recievers slightly it works awsome.  My roommate tried it and said it fires pretty good but does seem to occasionally need to be squeezed hard to fire.  I am going to order the fang trigger tonight and wait until it comes in to mess with this any more I think.  Unless of course someone comes up with something.

Thanks so far for the info oldpbnoob.

I also wanted to add the R/T pin does not contact the back of the trigger with the marker aired up.  Normal or problem?

The pin should push the trigger back into place after you take a shot. This is what caused the RT effect. If the pin isnt pushing the trigger forward it isnt working.

As for trading the trigger out for a fang its a matter of taste, but shouldnt have to be done to fix a problem.

The trigger pull isn't really very light on  a Tippmann. Its not like an electro marker. I just aired up my 98 and the trigger has to move about 1/8 - 1/4 of an inch to trip the sear.

I agree with you on the matter of taste.  We will see what happens with that.  I do enjoy tinkering with my paintball marker as well as with my true firearms so it is very possible I am being kinda anal with the pull on my paintball marker.

I do believe I just need to spend more time tuning the R/T.  I will do that with my new fang trigger and HPA and let ya'll know how it works out.  Till then...

it is described in the manual

turn this skrew compleatly to the left all the way untill a little poressure is felt

this should turn the makers air supply compleatly

now take and turn the same skrew to the right untill the trigger is to your likeing

your probaly going to have to mess with it for awhile

i had to mess with mine for a long minute before i got it to my comfort

Did some research and decided to remove my aftermarket power tube and put the stock back in.  That seemed to help a lot.  Right about the time I started making progress with the R/T I ran low on air.  Nice, I'll mess with it more this weekend.  Thanks guys.
