I REALLY don't want to start the anti-Smart Parts debate here, but he thinks that Tippmann ran away from Smart Parts's patent of the EP marker, which was issued in 2002 (# 6,474,326). And he thinks that the E-Trigger is way better (though he doesn't understand the difference between EP and blowback)

I sincerely doubt they ran away from any patent. Tippmann is the #1 seller in terms of revenue in the industry, and if you look at exactly who smart parts sued, it was small companies that couldnt put up a fight.

The e-bolt was stopped for the same reason as most things, it was too complicated for the average idiot to install.
