Weclome to the forum. You can buy a single piece J&J ceramic for about $35. Or you can buy a barrel kit from J&J for more. The differance being that the barrel kit come with different length barrels, and different size bore adaptors, such as .681, 683 etc... |

So I could buy just the barrel for now, and an insert later. If I check with the (only) local paintball store and stuck with the same paint (level 1 or 2) could I get by with maybe one or two adaptors. My son and I recevied one each for Christmas, so we are just playing in the field behind the house, but would like more accuracy. Right now the ball will fall straight through the barrel. I had a gift card from walmart so i bought impact paintballs.

First of all I'd read this guide: http://www.tippmann.com/forum/wwf77a/forum_posts.asp?TID=163 015&PN=1 Paintballs by and large are not that accurate, being round projectiles. You will never get anyway near the accuracy you would get with a bullet. You really don't need a barrel kit if you're only playing rec ball. Also you can't buy a barrel and then an "insert" later. Barrel kits use two pieces to make a barrel, a bore size adaptor and a length. One piece barrels are just that one piece. If your balls are falling straight through the barrel then they are slightly too small. This could be the brand of paint you are useing or just that batch as batches will vary. Trh these links: http://www.actionvillage.com/AVI-Paintball/paintball-paintba ll-barrels-j--j-precision-barrels http://www.paintball-discounters.com/get_dept_4.htm Just remember to get a barrel that is for your marker type and model. If you still need more help just ask, better to ask a hundred questions before you buy something than to waste your money. There is alot of combined experiance in this forum. Take advantage of it.
