I've seen 5 or 6 dogs have torn anterior cruitats repaired...no humans though.

When done on humans the surgery is done arthoscopically and thus doesn't require the the entire knee joint to be opened up as it does when dogs tear their cruiciate.   Also, humans have a ligament transplant, where as dogs get a false ligament made of cord or suture.

P.S. Bone saw and files are perhaps the scariest looking things I have ever seen.

I messed around with some ACLs in the HGA cadavers last semester. Pretty cool.

You want some cheap surgery, hit me up.

One of the most common injuries the medical personnel see at the mountain. Seems like half the people I know have torn it.

It's a long recovery process.

My brother had it done about a year or so ago. I was there to help him get around and such. He said that the pain aspect was not half as bad as he expected. He chose to get his replacement ACL from a cadaver which is supposed to make it less painful. If you don't opt that the cadaver, they have to cut a section from another ligament to use.

rotated my kneecap about 180 degrees last summer...imagine it behind your leg, not cool. then getting it snapped into place=waaayyyy not cool. by faaar the worst 3 seconds of my life.

doc said I didn't tear anything but I"m still a little skeptical. I do know a few people who've had the surgery and they're all doing great (their knees that is). keep your quad muscles (thighs for the sake of understanding) strong after the surgery. once it's re-hab'd do short, less intense leg lifts n such, it'll strengthen your knee a ton (you'll have muscle atrophy, happens to everyone) after 3-4 weeks of that you'll hopefully be ready to rock
WWBDD?
