Topic: blowing out my tombstonePosted: 29 March 2009 at 4:11am |

Hey i have an A-5 ive had it for about 3 months and just last week it started having problems, when i screw in my tank it blows my tombstone out a little, the push pin keeps it from blowing out completely but it gets just past the tombstone latch, and when that happens it blows the valve O-ring out of whack and it leaks like mad out the tombstone and the barrel. some times i cant even screw the tank in with out it leaking and sometimes i get about 10 shots before it blows.
Could this just be from a worn valve ring or is it more serious??
I use Co2 if that makes a difference

sounds like an oring in the tombstone but i dont know a5s that well.
might be installed wrong but more likely its an oring. if you bought it new call tippmann and tell them about it. it will still be under warrenty. |

Thanks for posting your A5 issue. When I read your problem I was like "I am not alone". Your description of your A5 issue is exactly what happened to me a few days ago. I was test firing my A5 when all of a sudden I hear a pop and my CO2 starts leaking from the inside. I noticed my tombstone and O-ring was exactly how you explained your situation.
Have you fixed your problem? If you have let me know so I know what to do. I was planning on taking it to the shop to have them take a look at it. But after reading your posting you may have come up with a solution by now. Please let me know if you have resolved your issue and share your insight on how to fix it.
Thanks in advance. Edited by southcalipinoy - 01 April 2009 at 4:33am |

Check and/or replase the O-ring in the powertube, the one that tightens against the inside of the tombstone. Parhaps only a little oil could help.
Else, always ad 2-3 drops of oil in the ASA before playing, shoot 10-20 shots witout the barrel so you dont get eccess oil in the barrel. Might help?! Jonas |

Well i brought my gun to my local paintball shop which is a tippmann certified repair shop and they were confused as well, I tired a new valve ring and still had the problem they called tippmann while i was there and they recomended i replace my tombstone so i took it off and tried a new one and it worked i then looked at my old one and after a few minutes of inspeting i saw it had the smallest flat spot on it, it could barley be seen but it was right at the spot where it latches it wasent enough to not let it latch thats why im still confused. it was so small and yet it caused such a big problem. But i just bought a new tombstone for 20$ and now its shooting great again.
so if you you have the same problem just look at ur tombstone for even the most minor defect i guess with that much pressure it needs to be 100%

Makes sense. A small hole can produce a huge problem especially whene there is that much pressure. Thanks for posting the final result so everyone knows the solution. |
