Hey
Its been about 8 years or so since I have been in the paintball scene. A couple friends have just gotten into it and I went out for a game yesterday. I brought my custom 98 with expansion chamber. Problem I had was I was getting huge clouds of Co2 coming out of the marker....enough that I had no idea where my paint was hitting. I'm sure I had the fix for this 8 years ago but I am totally at a loss now. Can anyone give me some ideas? |

liquid co2 is getting into the gun. the smoke you are seeing is the liquid expanding into a gas. there isnt really a way to get rid of this since liquid is always going to enter the gun even with an expansion chamber, especially in colder climates.
try upgrading to an anti-siphon tank. get a rear velocity adjuster for it, because usually when that much gas is being expelled im sure your velocity is extremely high as well. the RVA will allow you to control how much the valve opens and allowing more precise gas flow and velocity. also try either a direct mount Palmers Stabilizer or a front grip regulator mod in combination with a male tank threaded Stab. this well allow further control of the gas flow and also rid a lot of the liquid from entering the gun. |

I don't recall the gun doing this before? If I go back to no expansion chamber should the stock gun do this? I remember being able to see the paint and where is was going. Now theres no chance at all.

the stock gun will do it just the same.
both my 98 and A5 will sometimes produce a cloud that is a good foot or two long and wide if enough liquid gets into the valve. try the recommended upgrades. starting with the Stabilizer. |

I will look into one. Any recommendation on a Canadian online site I can order from?
Im still wondering about the gun. I was the only one out of 6 with this problem. Other markers were A-5's, bravo one and some random old spyders. Why wasn't anyone else having these issues? |

is it everytime it happens? were you shooting fast with no pause? is this from a freshly filled tank only or from a half full one as well? have you tried oiling the valve?

Happened everytime that day. Thats the first time I use the gun in a few years. Rate of fire didn't matter. Hapened al the time. Full 20oz tank and shot just under 400rnds. Didn't oil anything.

Temp was 20-25C. I was looking for a quick, cheap solution to have a few games. I know the gun didn't do this this bad before. Once I take a shot I can't see what I was shooting at or where the ball went.

thats not cold at all. hmm. well like ive been saying, i really dont think its the gun. its the fact that you are using CO2 and maybe happened to get a full liquid fill. once you use it up a bit the smoke cloud should die down.

I remember getting my tanks filled when I use to play and we would put in a few oz then drain quickly to cool the tank and then fill the tank. What was the point of this? If you didn't cool the tank would it cause a 'full liquid fill'? Also what is a full liquid fill?

Cooling the tank gives a more accurate fill, for the life of me I can't remember why. A full liquid fill means whoever filled your tank put too much liquid co2 in and you are spitting it out of the marker. Try a different known good tank from a friends gun maybe. I also recommend upgrading to hpa if it's possible. I just got a tank for $65 and it was worth every penny.
