I plan on getting either a flatline or a lapco bigshot with an apex ready tip (since i already have the apex). You can get a flatline for roughly 60 on ebay and the big shot for arounf 50. I have heard alot of good and bad things about the flatline and i havent heard much about the apex performance wise.....so what should i go with?

Apex, you can turn it "off" I have my tip on a barrel kit and love it. I can reach out there if need be but durring regular play I can turn it off and my accuracy doesnt suffer at all.

yea thats what im leaning towards.....how much would u say you have to make the apex to get the perfect amount of backspin without the ball like flying up...like how many clicks?

Here is an option for you too. I have the CP tactical barrel and I purchased a LAPCO threaded tip that is for the apex. It allows me to screw my apex on the CP barrel and it works great! I have had the flat line and I like the apex better because like they said it can be turned off!! Here is the link for the tip it was hard for me to find it on there website.

Either way, once the paint hits the Apex tip, it will lose accuracy at longer than normal distances due to a lot of physics crap that has been posted here before. Essentially, you have a spinning liquid filled sphere having a backspin put on it and then being subjected to things such as resistance, wind, etc that will all combine to make shots past 40-50 ft fairly inaccurate.

I disagree. I use an apex and have for years. It is MUCH better than a regular barrel for accuracy. I should shoot a video to prove this, as I have my red dot scope dialed in with my apex half way ramped and it is dead on accurate at 65 feet. I can hit 4 out of 5 in an area of about 3-4 inches.
Paint is the key, good paint is critical when you add backspin to a paintball. You have to get paint that doesn't have a noticable seam. I use xball woodsball (at Dick's sporting goods, make sure you get fresh paint as always, dimples ruin your shot).
Here is a little video I did a while back, with my apex set at halfway ramped.
Lots of guys that play with me have flatlines, and they are OK, but the apex is much better in my opinion. If you break paint with a flatline, you are in trouble... They are really hard to clean, where you can whip off an apex barrel if you use an a-5 in under a second, with their quick release system.

I own both and have shot both for years. I like the Flatline better. I normally play in heavily wooded areas where there is a lot of tangled vegetation. I like the flatline better because if I'm hunkered close to the ground and I have a small avenue to shoot through, I can do it. With the apex, I can't do this because of the initial dip or drop from the barrel when I shoot.
I love the Apex drop shot ability. It is the only feature that I miss from that barrel. Nothing better than shooting somebody behind a bunker from 30' away and making them think that somebody from above or behind got them.

The flatline is good for all kinds of playing areas and adds lots of distance and accuracy. I'd go with flatline but Apex is very good too.
