This is for those of you that always argue that Apple computers have the better hardware

Apple basically sells one line of computers at a time. Their product lines are built on the same hardware end to end. It is a lot more efficient to build and sell few product lines, as opposed to be constantly introducing and discontinuing SKUs.
However, the downside to that method is, as we see here, by the time they update a product line, it begins to feel a little outdated. This is just how Apple works. |

Should be seeing another update come this fall, I would assume (at least for Macbook Pros). Their cycle is generally 18-24 months for any given model.
As a note, the i5-430M (mobile version of the i5, used in every laptop in that article) is a dual core processor, not a quad core, like it's desktop equivalent. That said, it should be faster and more efficient than a Duo of the "same speed", due to the 32nm die. |

Those have been rumoured in macbook pros for a while, and orders for current macbook pros are starting to cease, so an update is nigh.

You can update a processor within the family of processors. But in this case, the article is talking about going up a whole generation of CPUs over the current chips in the machines. |

Also, many laptops simply solder the processor onto the mainboard (all Apple computers do this, if I remember correctly, although the Mac Pro may not), which means it's never replaceable, or least not by the user. It saves quite a bit of space, as often the processor socket consumes more space than the processor.
