Rooms with three Colonels and three Majors in them.

I headed downtown to take my PFT this morning, and when I walk into the office there are a dozen or so Marines, including the above.  I just about crapped my pants.

One of the Colonels rowed against my coach in college, so he grilled me for a couple minutes about it.  It was an all new level of awkward.

Anyway, beautiful day out, PFT went OK, and I made it through a room of people who have more years in the Corps than I have alive, so I think it's a good day.

Back when I was in boot (lol 13 weeks) I was in sick call for my knee injury, just waiting to see the doc. I look down the hall and here comes Brig. General Salinas, followed by what seemed like an endless group of every brass in existence, Lts, Captains, Majors, Lt Colonels and Colonels. One Colonel walked up to me and asked how I was doing. I was scared ****less of doing something wrong in front of all the officers.

221, which is alright since I don't ship till July 8th.  We had an insane amount of wind, I'd bet that added around 1:30 to our time (apparently it's a good idea to run along the bay, where it's the windiest...hrmmm).  Gonna do another one before the board looks at my application.

Yeah, it wasn't that stressful, more like just stressful enough.  The Colonel was pretty nice, honestly, it was just that it was in front of a group of senior officers and recruiters.

Here is a rule, an un-written rule of the Corps.  If it has gold on it's collar, it's an asshat.  221 is not bad at all for your first of many PFT's.

That goes away real fast...

Once you realize how trivial and how much they don't really affect you, you won't care much about them at all.  All colonels and majors do is show up and let people who suck up to them suck up to them.
