I just got my girlfriend a new dog today. We brought her home this morning and noticed her right leg might have a possible defect. The only way I can describe it is if her elbow bends in two different places. Notice in the picture. Has anyone ever seen this? We are going to bring her to the vet tomorrow but I thought i'd post and ask.

I've never seen that before. I've heard some dogs are double jointed-? Otherwise, I'm an animal newb :P
Beautiful dog though, I hope you get to keep her. |

I've seen dogs like that before. My girlfriend said her old Lab/Retriever was like that. What you first see as you look down the leg is an elbow and then the actual joint below it. However it could be a form of Dysplasia and the vet will let you know.
Absolutely great looking dog though.

In the words of my veterinarian/father "Haha you bought a lemon."
EDIT: Just for clarification sake, he said that about my dog (because his jaw is crooked and he has hip dysplasia) Edited by Uncle Rudder - 07 February 2011 at 9:04pm |
