My neighbor used to race sleds professionally for about 10 years. Was running 4.8 - 5.0 in 660' drags with a modified 4 cyl Polaris naturally aspirated. Buddy just picked up a Yamaha SRX that was modded. He likes to race outlaw and runs about 5.7 in 660' drags. Can't believe what some people do to their sleds, much less the money they $pend doing it. Crazy...

Yeah some are pushing close to 700 hp at the crank so take away 50 percent drivetrain loss at the ground. They are boosting 4strokes then shooting nitrous on top of the turbo or sc. One guy was actually shifting going down the track last weekend. I'm pulling mid 6s 660. Maybe a measly140 crank hp.
I think I saw on here that some forumers live near Detroit. If you're ever bored when the ice is thick anchor bay on st. Claire is a really interesting and different spot to drink a beer and take in the sites for a while. I don't drink but many do very openly there. Hey os my old neighbors name is bryan Smith. I don't have a bike now but I soooooo wish I did. I've been riding ever since I was about 8 on a PW80 and moved up from there but sold my last bike years ago. I would love that CRF250, or better yet a DRZ400..... **sigh** A man can dream..

DRZ 400 is a dog, way too heavy. The potentials of the CRF250L are proven, as I took another $750 and woke it up to where I can race it, as well as putter at 75mph on highway. The new Yamaha WR250 is also in the same class of potentials. You will NOT like the DRZ400.
Rumor mill is Honda is taking the CRF450 frame and sticking the new 450cc enlarged 250L style motor, right now you can get a 305cc kit for the 250L as well. |
