    Posted: 18 February 2015 at 12:54am
I got my truck in October, it's a 2005 Colorado with around 53k miles.  Over the last few weeks to a month, I've noticed that at low speeds around 15-20mph, the rear end seems to rise and fall with each tire rotation.  I can see it when I look at the horizon in the rear view.  It almost feels like going over small waves in a boat.  My dad commented back in October that he thought one of my tires might be out of round when he was riding as a passenger on the highway around 75mph.  Since then I've put around 8k miles on it, mostly interstate.  After doing a little bit of research, I think it could either by an out of round tire like he said, or maybe a separated tire.  At higher speeds it feels like just a strong vibration throughout the truck.  Any ideas before I take it in to the shop?

If you like your truck, replace that tire sooner rather than later. I've had a tread separate on my truck, and while no Firestone Explorer type swerving and dying happened, it did beat the hell out of the paint and body around the wheel well. I'm not sure what would happen if a tire with a broken belt came apart, but I can't imagine it being any better.

Happened to my car. The person doing my tire balancing said it had some uneven wear from low tire pressure. Not sure why it's one area that is raised compared to the rest. It doesn't look different, but still works fine. Stick the bad tire on the front driver side if you really want to be annoyed...

GIG IT T!

Took it in today.  Whoever said belt going, you were right.  On 2 of them.  I went ahead and replaced them all with BFG T/As, 31".  Also, I'm never buying coopers again.  Sure the tires were a few months shy of 5 years, but they had a ton of tread left so they didn't have many miles on them.  Looks a far bit better now too.

I love my BFG A/Ts. If you're like me and obsess over the pretty white letters, the only way to keep them new looking is sanding them lightly. I get a smoothed out river rock and "wetsand" the letters with it while I wash my truck.

That was a problem with bias ply tires; you should be able to change the rotation of a modern radial tire w/o issue unless it's a directional tire.

Deal, but you have to keep it.  No trading it for a tat or AK.

Keeping the letters white? What the hell? You guys got too much time on your hands. Get a wife.

My car, even when I had a truck or a 4x4 got power washed when couldn't see out of it any more.

My wife bugged me to wash the car once, because she didn't want to load a christmas tree on top of a dirty car. I protested, but complied. Then, after the doors and windows froze shut in the winter weather, I no longer feel the need, nor am I bothered to wash anything anymore.

Looking at the back of my fusion out the window right now...if I didn't know what color it was supposed to be, I couldn't guess.

I washe dmine for the first time 2 weeks ago.  That was only to get the salt off.  Going to wash it again this week after it rains and washes the salt off the road.

Black car... The struggle is always real.
I tend to not wash it very often during the winter. I did once, a month or so ago, because the salt was really caked on. The only gripe I really have is getting the salt on the bottom door sill getting all over the back of my pants.

The automatic car wash up the road has a monthly subscription service.  $20 for unlimited washes for a month.
