Underage Drinking

Hello. Basically I am looking for your people's opinons on underage drinking. Do you think it is ok for people under the legal age limit to drink? Have you ever drank underage, why did you start drinking andwhat do you think the legal drinking age should be?

I'll start off. I am only 15 and I do drink. I started drinking in grade 8. I am not addicted by any means but I have beend drunk atleast 10 times this summer 4 of those times in one week. I personally do not think there is a problem with me drinking. While I do dumb things I always do it at my house or someones else's house so the possibility for getting really hurt while drunk is fairly slim. I realise drinking can have a negative effect on my health, but I figure your liver is desighned to filter out toxins. And as long as I dont drink too often it shouldnt be too much of a problem. Also we all do things that have a negative effect on our health. I play football and rugby and I know that will come back to haunt me when I am older and have terrible knees. The first time I got drunk was with my best friend. He had been drinking for a while and he was at my house one night and we decided to get drunk. It wasnt like I gave into peer pressure or anything like that because many of my other friends try to get me to do drugs which I always turn down. My parents obviously dont know I drink, I suspect they would be really mad if they found out. But hopefully I'll never find out.

Oh and since I am Canadian my legal drinking age is 19 but 20 minutes from me in Quebec ( I live in Ontario) the legal age is 18.

I'll be 19 on the 25th and I drink every once in awhile, I enjoy some alcoholic drinks, however, I've never consume enough enough to be drunk and I do that on purpose.

I don't have a real issue with underage drinking, I do have a problem with people getting plastered, and hurting themselves as well as others.

Abusing any substance screws your life up.

it depends the persons attitude.
 age doesnt matter to me much, but im responsible enough to hide my car keys in a place i wont find them.

but the irresponsible people is what kills hte privilages for others. and some people get to into alchohol and become dependant on it.
 i dont drink to get trashed, just as if it were any other drink.

Now I am fourteen the only time I have drank was when my mom let me taste her mike's hard lemonade three years ago I think they should lower the legal drinking age to eighteen because the legal smoking age is 18 and that alot of times turns out to be worse for your health but drinkng can have horrible effects also. 

I've sampled drinks, but I have never been drunk.

Personally when I drink it is for the purpose of getting drunk. I am usually pretty smart when I drink though. And I have never hurt my self badly ( woke up with some cuts on my arm but thats about it) or hurt anyone else. I am also smart enough to do things like hide car keys and not go in the water. Becuase I ave had to pull a 200 pound unconcious drunk out of my pool and it wasnt fun.

Drinking, no matter how much, damages your body. Even if it's just a little..

I'd sure say getting stoned 10 times per summer is rather often...

If you do it when you're young and its harder to get, when you're an adult with the ability to get it any time and have the dough to do it, you will probably do it MUCH more often and [possibly, if not definitly] get addicted.

You see underage drinking all the time...I'm saying that most people don't take the age limit too seriously...Now tell me...Why does that make me ignorant?

Right, right. So let's TEST IT BY POURING TOXINS INTO IT!!!!! Good grief..

By the way, I cannot stand the smell of alcoholic drinks. Reminds me too much of urine, and the smell of hobos. Also, one of my grandfathers died about ten years before his time (I think, he was old but my other grandfather is far outliving him and he hasn't had a drink in 50 years or so).

And my other grandfather used to drink, and so he has some of the behaviors of an alcoholic and/or one going through withdrawal. As a result, my mom has those same irrational behaviors, and so do I. Plus, since my dad's diabetic, I get to see what a lot of drunk people are like whenever his blood sugar gets low, and it's quite pathetic.

Add all that to the fact that because of my grandfather on my dad's side I am somewhat predisposed towards alcoholism... no reason to drink it.
