I'm a senior now and I have been forced into really looking at what I want to do with my life so I thought I share my pain and make all of you do so as well. Misery loves company. Anyway, I had been thinking of going to Devry in Colombus, Ohio and getting into programing but I have realized that I don't really want to. Now I am almost decided on becoming a history teacher and I'm looking at going to Ohio University and getting a degree in "Adolescent-to-Young-Adult Education" and minoring in integrated social studies and history. I am really interested in history and I like teaching things to people and telling them what to do and how to do it so I think I really will stick to this one. How 'bout you?

I've been a licensed building contractor for almost 17 years now and am college educated. I knew what I wanted to do even before I graduated from high school but my wife who is a nurse and I tossed the idea around to go back to college to become teachers.

Summers off to play PB would be awsome.

I think a real key element is finding something to do that you LIKE.

That's pretty much exactly what I'm doing right now. I'm getting ready to do my methods courses and student teaching for secondary education concentrated in social studies. I'm working that along with another major, which is history.

It works out so well, because alot of the courses you'll take will be applicable for both programs. Be careful though. I don't know what the teacher education curriculum is in Ohio, but I know it's really tough in NY. The educational Psychology courses will suck, but if you love history enough to want to teach it, you'll be alright. Sometimes my love of the subject is all that keeps me in the program. It's not an easy one. Good luck, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me.

I am a Junior in Highschool so i have some time left, but not much.  I am thinking about either a technical engineer, or a mechanical engineer.  Maybe even a carpenter.

But what ever you choose, do something you like.  Dont do it becuase of money.  You will regret it

Just a suggestion.  If you want to go into the building industry look at skilled trades.  HVAC, plumbing, electrical.  It's really where the money is at.

Currently I'm doing a "specialized honours BA in business and economics".  I would like to also continue in a graduate program.  Perhaps an MBA or selling my soul for a law degree.  Then again, I'm still at a stand still, I don't mind what I'm doing now, but I don't know what I want to do with the rest of my life.

I wanna become an english teacher, or possibly a chemistry teacher, but some sort of teacher for high school. Only problem is i seem to suck at anything i want to do, and only be a little above average in anything i dont really care for, with the ecetion of swimming.

I guess if al else fails, i will go into the army and stay there for a while.

What you need is a liberal arts college.  That way, you can spend another four years in extended high school, learn general stuff without acquiring any actual skill, and take your time deciding what to do after that.

:)
