Forced-induction has been around a lot longer than ricers have, so I really don't see your point. What kind of senior project is this? Is the engine even going into a vehicle? If you have to ask this question I don't see how you're going to install a supercharger... Edited by Variable |

Just because the engine has a force induction system, does not mean its "Rice". Be it Superchargers or Turbochargers everyone says "Ooh goin the ricer rout huh?" Im so sick of it. Bearclaw would probly back me up on this. His truck is not a ricer. |

Are you telling me my '79 F-250 with a stroked & supercharged 460 is "Ricer". I use a rice burner as a pony motor....
roots type for low rpm torque, any other centerfugal blower for high rpm hp. Without engine component upgrades, limit boost to 5 psi. Use medium grade gas, and check for leakdown over 15%. Compression above 9.0 to 1 isn't good. MPI? You may need carbs to deal with spark timing to avoid detonation. I would not reccomend a blower if you are not a fairly good mechanic. A lot of instraments and know how are involved. |

Inclementia Vigor (Translated from latin to brutal force). And yes, I spell "brutl" wrong on purpose.

Get some sort of tunable ignition system. I have a MSD in my nasty old Capri, dual exaust twin turbo. Looks like, well pooh, but it will beat a mustang GT.

HAHAHAHAHA funny you were jokeing right? The Blower was MADE and moded for use in the performance world LONG AGO definatl ALOT longer than the "Ricers". Now i could go into a LONG history of the Supercharger but lets not. One word for yalets see ya call a Detroit 8V 91T two stroke diesel powered 1979 Peterbuilt a "Ricer" as most ALL two stroke diesels were Superchargerd (no performance added used simply for scavenging) and many of the later 92 series and some 71 and 53 seiries with a turbo mounted ontop of the blower. Now back on topic althought a supersharger is cool i personally prefer the turbo as its basically FREE power (mechanically wise) as it uses wast gasses to power a compressor for your intake. While a supper charger does the same only usein Engine power vea belt chain or gear. Now superchargers have benifits as they have no lag time were as a turbo doen not become effective till later rpms. Have ya considered trying a coustom turbo install it probly would not be all that hard as a 350 should handel aroud 7lbs of boost without to mutch grife so you could find a turbo of a used Banks kit for the Gm 6.2L Diesels that runs at the above boost and performes pretty good heck the exhuast system for it may even hook up for ya as the 6.2 and 350 have some similarities. Now in the diesel side Turbos are STANDARD equipment as they not only offer the performance aspect but also ALOT better MPG and emmishions. This is also the rason CAT has adopted the twin turbo setup on alot of there new engines to simply meet current emmishions standars with the boosted power out put as simply a bonus. |
