I know this would be very exspensive and unpracticle, but this if for theoretical statement only. What you could do is make a normal metal barral, but at each end of the barrel put a lazer censor or somthing like it. And it would be able to tell exactly how long it took for the ball to go from one end of the barrel, to the other. Thus it would be able to figure out the fps and it could display it on a digital screen on the back part of the barrel. P.S. Like I said, this is in no way a practicle idea, it would involve too much electronics to ever work, its a "just for fun" idea. |

it would be difficult, but not impossible... the hard part would be not damaging the sensors...

Wouldn't work. While in the barrell the ball is still accelerating, you would have a very unnacurate reading.

They already make a barrel that has a chrono built in.

just get one of those little hand held chrono's and tape it to the end of your barrel.
|
|||
Canadians do it on top.

Its actually not part of the barrel. It just slips onto the end of the barrel. I forget who makes it, but it was black and looked like kind of like a barrel extension. I don't know if they make them any more; I havn't seen one around in a while. I don't think it worked very well. |

Out of what I heard, it had a huge fluctuation from one fps to another even though it was the same fps. And they had trouble staying on the barrel.
Your best be is to just get one of those small yellow ones you can carry around your neck. Alot cheaper too. |

sounds like something WDP would make and put lights on it, and have it make random sounds |

well the hard part would be cleaning the sensors if you chopped.
And also, if you come to my field with something like that, i'm still gonna make you chrono over my graph. |

How well do the yellow hand held ones work? I have a field in my back yard and I don't want to buy a $250 chrono.
