A barrel will help quiet down your gun.  Some other mods can be done as well.  LPK will also lower the sound your gun makes during firing.  As far as which barrels, I'm not exactly sure, but i'm sure someone will be able to help you out there.

Yeh, i've heard of that one too.  Polishing the internals might help you as well.

No, everyone knows where you are because you don't pick good places to hide or you are one of those people that likes to spray everything that moves.  Try not sitting in one spot for too long and making your shots count.  Those two things should help your dilema.

this thread is going to get locked unless the silencer talk is halted.

as for noise, there is no real point in quieting your gun down, unless you play night games. at the distances of paintball, all guns can be easily heard, so i suggest making it as loud as possible to make it fun

Like he said about, the only way a quiet gun is gonna help you play at night, or if you are totally hidden.  besides, isn't illegal to make any sort of silencer anyway?  just curious, but i'm pretty sure i've heard that somewhere...

Well you picked a poor choice for your thread title since it will most likely be closed but there are ways to quiet down an a5 which are total legal and tournament legal. As for people seeing no point I completely disagree. I just went out the other day and at this field there were buildings and thicket around them. My buddy with the DM5 had a field day crawling through the thicket and taking shots. You had no idea were they where coming from. St!ffi barrels are quiet, Ceramic barrels are also quiet. Making the switch from co2 to hpa helps quiet the gun down. Polishing the internals helps quiet it down. To see the most noticeable difference in noise you’d have to play with your hammer and springs. If you run the lighter spring from that madman kit your gun will be quieter. If you run the heavier spring your gun will be louder. I’m laying this out there right now though. The second you start changing springs is the second you affect your accuracy/ range/operation. The LPK will also quiet down your marker but don’t expect to run different springs with that. Also there’s a liquid rubber sealant you can buy that is used to for putting grip handles on hand tools. If you want you can take that. Remove your hopper from your gun and coat the inside of your hopper with it. It will quiet down the noise your hopper makes when your running by making it denser and reducing the slight shock the balls take when they hit the walls of your hopper.

Just my 2 cents

pretty much whatever you do, your gun will be pretty loud. if your playing woodsball or speedball, just wait till you have a good shot and take out the person so it doesnt matter if they know were you are. you could do the suggested mods. it should help a bit.

you should take your hopper off and run around throwing paint at people..... (all pb guns are loud whether you like it or not, if they know where u are that is because you are staying in one spot constantly shooting)

Teamwork people.  Always assume the enemy will know where you are, out flank them and it won't matter anyways.

The whole point of having an A5 is so that your opponents know where you are and run away in fear!

OpsGear makes a cannonizer. my friend has one and his 98c with flatline is like uber loud. you can hear it from far away and you think he is closer than he really is so little kids tend to run away from him

but my gun got quieter when i got my stabilizer because there wasnt so much gas blowing out around the velocity adjuster, since it was only using the gas that it needed and not using the tippmann velocity adjuster. (that probably made no sense)

but anyway, silencers ARE illegal but i dont think cops are going to fine you because you put PVC pipe on the end of your paintball gun barrel.

if you don't get too crazy with your trigger, it's very possible to stay in the same spot and not be found. i find it very handy to lob shots at my opponents, so that they don't know where it came from. accuracy isn't always key here... i try to arch shots when i'm still 150+ feet away, so that they can't pinpoint where it came from. this is where your self-control comes in. make sure you fire enough that the enemy takes cover, but don't fire too much that they have enough time to hide, and then figure out where it came from. I normally fire a 4-5 shot burst so that they duck down, but by the time they look around, i'm already hidden again.

the element of surprise is a very useful tool; don't underestimate it. the first instinct when any shot is fired is to find cover. use that to your advantage to instill fear and confusion in your opponents.

there were quite a few games where i ended up holding 3 different guys at bay, by myself, in this fashion. it also helps if you have a buddy that can hit them from another angle, which will confuse them even more. the biggest key is sitting still, and waiting for the opportune time. you can have a black mask in a green forest, and your opponents will have a hard time seeing you, (although, painting your mask green does help alot). again, the key is control. don't fire if you don't have to.

hopefully this helps...

Maybe this doesn't help at all, but my nelson pump (Maverick) is actually quiet enough at 275 fps that people often don't seem to notice where it is coming from. It sounds like hitting a piece of pvc pipe with a drumstick, like a hollow "clonk". I still get pretty well smashed when I use it in a semi game though.
