I just want to go on record. Watch this November, I do believe the Republicans will lose the house. And with the Dems in charge (btw I do not believe they will let Pelosi be speaker, too far on the left for even the mainstream democrats) they will almost instantly declare the most of the current problems facing america will be miraculously solved, the economy will do wonderfull things in months (the actual same economy we have now) and they will have a "plan" for everything under the sun. Now wheter these plans are practical an applicable, well we can watch that battle unfold. The current checks and balances will stagnate any government action for at least two years, and then potentially longer. The Dems will have the majority in the house, and just watch. The potential mistakes in judgement and thier actions within the house will directly affect thier candidate in Nov 08.

To the above add the Clinton/Obama ticket which will almost certianly be a loser, for unfortuanately "Joe Critter Redneck" is not quite ready, and that ticket, and will be watching the house battles, and these actions will immediately activate that now pretty much dormant republican voting block. It does take a lot to get rid of the apathy in the mainstream voter, but I do feel that the Dems will open a door, that they should have tried to keep shut, and thier actions in the House and candidate selections will hold the key to that door.

I am really curious about this Pelosi fascination.  After learning who Pelosi was from OS on this forum a few weeks ago, I have done some research.

ZERO of my friends that tend Democrat knew who she was (except for friends actually living in San Francisco).  The name was vaguely familiar, but no real connection.  The same was true for most of the middle/independents.  Among my more right-wing friends, however, there was a near-100% hit rate.  They all not only knew who she was, but knew that she was "way to liberal".

Now, from my research I concur that she trends to the left in the party, but I still smell a bogeyman.  The only people I hear bringing her up on the radio/TV are Hannigan and pals.

Clark, right wingers are familiar with pelosi through the NRA, which views her as a gun grabbing harpee.

OS, you honestly think that nothing at all would get done with a Democratic congress and republican president? I don't really see Bush vetoing anything, especially with a rider tacked on. No chance he'll get line-item veto power.

I don't see clinton having that much of a chance really. She'd bring out right wing hardliners in droves and since white women hate each other passionatly, she just wouldn't have the votes. Obama is charismatic, but not a whole lot else.

You may be underestimating Obama. If not for this election then maybe the next one...

Yup, he actually said that.

You honestly think Obama could make a Clinton/Obama ticket work? I think he'd have a better shot on his own personally. I said that he has charisma and not much else, but I didn't say that he wouldn't be electable because of that. The normal democrat tactic seems to be to avoid making controversial stances on issues to avoid alienating voters, like what john kerry did last time around. Obama made a good speech at the convention two years ago. Other than that I haven't seen him really take forceful stances on issues. His notoriaty comes from his charisma and nothing else, that's my current problem with him. That may well chage before the 08 elections

I will vote for Obama if he runs. I think it would be better for him to run without Hillary personally.

But that is how I stand. I would vote for McCain on one side, Obama on the other.

Yeah, look how much they have screwed stuff up in the past.

Like FDR getting us back from the depression...

and Kennedy saving us from nuclear war with Cuba and Russia...

and Clinton giving us a national surplus.

Hmmm...

I'm sensing tensions. What you people need, is to vote for the American Communist Party! With the ACP you are all equal!

Yes great things,

FDR was aware of a Japanese attack, where was unknown, but did little to prepare or warn US Forces Pacific, there is documentation. Wanted the war for the economy, a trend. Allready in Proxy war with Germany with Lend Lease and US Navy escorts of Convoys out of Halifax (DD Reuban James?) Allied with a mass murderer (Uncle Joe Stalin, the Russian purges higher death toll than Hitler, and look what we got for being allies, a 50 year Cold War)

Kennedy, gave us tax cuts for the economy, guess that is a wrong idea today. Good move on Cuba, but opened the door for an 12 year involvement in Vietnam (Diem killed, US Advisors, etc, Read "Bright and Shinning Lie", R Vann, The Beginnings of the Vietnam Conflict)

And our National Poster Child for Sexual Predator Laws, Clinton. Let kids know that oral sex is not sex, lieing to Congress and the people on National Television is OK, " I did not have sexual relations with that woman". Bubble economy built on DOTCOMS and temp High tech companys. Several "Meals on Wheels", military adventures, cut and ran after 18 Rangers die in Somalia, does nothing on WTC attack #1, the USS Cole, nothing, but embolden our potential enemies. Sold missile tech to China, nuclear reactor to N Korea (look how much power thye are putting out with that baby, you did see the pic of NK at night).

Yep, gotta love the Dems........

Elections anymore are just pickin the lessor of two evils, and you end up gettin what you are taxed for.

Kennedy and Vietnam. If I remember correctly Eisenhower handed Kennedy a growing problem in Vietnam after Eisenhower had already sent in Special Forces to train the South Vietnamese.

As for the USS Cole. correct me if I am wrong on the time. But I though Bush was in power when that happened. I may be a year or so off. I'm going to check on that right now.

I take back the USS Cole. I was off a year. My apologies.

Eisenhower debated pulling out all assets in Vietnam in 1959. HoChiMihn came to Eisenhower in 1954 for help when the UN drew the line across Vietnam on the 17th, and set up the two Vietnams, his war was for the removal of the French and a unified Vietnam. But since he was from Hanoi, hense the North, we did not help him and he went to the Russians. Kennedy kept US Advisors in, and then realized the problems and was looking also at a withdrawal, but the Diem assasination changed priorities, but unfortuanatly Kennedy was shot a few weeks later. Johnson (D) with a fabricated incident (Gulf of Tonkin) got us fully involved and Nixon (a R) got us out.

Also the Democrats (Dixiecrats, Al Gore's dad was one of them) resisted the Civil Rights Admendment, only the Republicans in Congress got it passed and the law of the land.

Why?

What is it about Mrs. Clinton that inspires such hatred?
